perhaps we should start over with a different explanation I am trying to determine if there is a reduction in the number of outstanding shares over time espeically if it is the result of share buyback
can a scan for change in the float be better ?

Just a note that this is a continuation of scan for changes in outstanding shares.
Anything involving changes in Fundamentals cannot be done in TeleChart (unless it is already created as one of the built in Fundamental System Criteria) because TeleChart only has data for the current values of the built in System Criteria.
Definitions of all built in scanning and sorting criteria
Morningstar Historical Fundamentals & Company Stats powered by Blocks does have historical values for its Fundamental Criteria. This means you could search for both changes in Float and changes in the Outstanding Shares Indicator calculated by dividing Capitalization by Price.
That said, the trainers can't give setting, interpretation or investment advice. This means I can't really suggest what might be the best method for determining if there is a reduction in the number of outstanding shares over time as a result of a share buyback (beyond checking for a reduction in Outstanding Shares directly - but as noted, there are limitations to doing this with the calculated Outstanding Shares Indicator). I'll move this topic to the Stock and Market Talk forum so other traders will be more likely to see it and comment.

Notice that Capitalization values are available in scans. Is there any chance that they will be available in Personal Criteria Formulas so that outstanding shares can be calculated simply by dividing by C?
