Att: Bruce:

I like to plot 3 of the indicators that you made for me as indicators.

Volume $ amount
Weighted Quarters of symbol value
Weighted Quarters of symbol rank

I  don't  think I can plot the ones that you created can I?

Please save the attached .pane files to:

My Documents\Blocks Files\Tool Parts\Chart

You can add them to any chart using the ADD STUDY button and then selecting Add Study | My Computer.

You can use QuickEdit to adjust the settings or view the Block Diagrams.

Bruce,

How can I plot a horizontal line fixed at 5 million on Volume dollars for example? or 25% on EPS %change this way when I scan through charts I can see which conditions they met?

Also under the performance summary tab Annual Return/ trade of let say 25% what is that mean?

Thanks

Can I also cut out the top portion of the volume scale or give it a maximum value so I can see bottom clearly?

let say the stock trades an average 50 million dolaars a day and one day it trades 500 million so the scale goes up to 500 mllion can I cut the top part out?

To add a horizontal line to a Pane, right-click on the Pane and select Add Chart Tool | Value Pointer. You can right-click on the Value Pointer and select Properties to adjust its settings.

The following is taken from the Online Users Guide (available under the Help menu in Blocks):

Ann Return/Trade the averaged Annualized return per trade. Each trade is annualized using the following formula: ((((100 + % change) / 100) ^ (1 year / time held)) * 100) - 100

I've attached a Truncated Dollar Volume Pane to my original response.

Adding a Value Pointer to Dollar Volume works on my system. That said, Dollar Volume varies dramatically between symbols and the Value Pointer is frequently off the chart.

This way you can see the value pointer as well

I've attached a Truncated Dollar Volume Pane to my original response. It truncates based on a multiple of the average visible volume.

This will not make the Value Pointer always visible as you change symbols for the same reason it might not be visible now. The Dollar Volume varies dramatically between symbols. This is also the reason that it doesn't make a lot of sense to add a fixed Dollar Volume filter to the chart.

Bruce few things.

Can I say stocks that their EPS this quarter is > 25% or Accelerating for the last 3 quarters? for example 9%, 12%, 19%.

We already have the >25% can we say or add another formula for Accelerating as above, same with Sales.

Also is there anyway I can see what % of the trades and profits came from trades that lasted more than 12 months? I am trying to see if I can make this system more tax efficient.

Thanks

You can OR a Hemscott Raw History Value Strategy Condition with either a Hemscott Raw History % Change Strategy Condition or a Hemscott Raw History Net Change Strategy Condition. You would want to use a 13-Week Time Frame and set both # Bars True and Bars to Test to 3 for whichiver Condition you are using to test for the Change.

I have to choose raw history % change for what I am trying to do since I am looking for the % change in current quarters EPS from a year ago same quarter to be higher than the % change in last quraters from the same quarter a year ago right?

If this quarter EPS grow by 19% from a year ago same quarter and last quarters EPS grow by 15% from a year ago same quarter and 2 quarters back EPS grow by 12% from a year ago same quarter so it went from 12% to 15% to 19%.

If I am correct this is what I did.

Hemscott Criteria: EPS % change latest quarter
Raw % change > or<: Greater than
Percent Value: I put 0 since as long as % change this quarter is = or < than last
# Bars True: 3
Bars to test: 3
Change Period: 13
Time Frame: Checked 's and week

Am I correct?

I do not know of an automated method of finding the percentage of trades lasting more than 12 months other than exporting the results after calculating the Strategy and using Excel (or another spreadsheet) to find this value.

You can't currently export the stock data itself, but you can export Strategy results.

Select Strategy | Settings | Export results after calculating a Strategy.

You way wish to review the following:

Export Strategy (Backtest) results to Excel

ok great.

The volatility stop loss indicator that made me it's saved on one of my workstations how can I move it or add it to another work station?

It's not on my indicator menu it's on the workstation you send me and that's how I saved it how can I save it in my indicator list?

I'm not sure if your indicator is a Plot, Pane, Strategy Condition or something else entirely, but the basic process is the same no matter which it might be.

When you right-click on most of the Tool Windows or Tool Parts in Blocks, you will be given the option to Save and/or Save As. Once you have saved the Tool Window or Tool Part you will normally have an option for My Computer when loading or adding the appropriate Tool Window or Tool Part to your Workspace.

Bruce,

On the EPS % change accelerating for the last 3 quarters to buy, for the sell condition I just have to change the Greater than to less than and leave everything else the same to sell if the EPS % change is no longer accelerating?

Hemscott Criteria: EPS % change latest quarter
Raw % change > or<: less than
Percent Value: I put -.10 so if it's not equal to or greater
# Bars True: 3
Bars to test: 3
Change Period: 13
Time Frame: Checked 's and week

AM I right?

I can't be sure exactly what you would want, but I suspect the following is closer to your intent:

Hemscott Criteria: EPS % change latest quarter
Raw % change > or<: less than
Percent Value: I put -.10 so if it's not equal to or greater
# Bars True: 1
Bars to test: 1
Change Period: 13
Time Frame: Checked 's and week

It only needs to be decreasing for 1 month to no longer be accelerating.

you are right  thanks.

Tell me if there is a conflict here

To Buy

Price over 10
and
EPS % change latest quarter >25%
or
Accelerating last 3 quarters

To Sell

EPS % change < 25%
or
not Accelerating

Would this sell the stocks that their EPS % change is less than 25% but Still accelerating? Because on the sell side the way it seems to me now if the stock meets any of the condition on the sell side it will be sold so if their EPS % Change is less than 25% it's meeting the condition.

But I like to have it stay on as long as it's accelerating even though it's less than 25%

I think i just figured it out I have to change the OR to AND on the sell side. So in order for the stock to be sold it has to meet both conditions.

Is that right?

ANDing the Exit Conditions would probably do what you want. If you do take this approach, you may want to consider changing the "not Accelerating" Exit Condition to:

Hemscott Criteria: EPS % change latest quarter
Raw % change > or<: less than
Percent Value: I put -.10 so if it's not equal to or greater
# Bars True: 1
Bars to test: 3
Change Period: 13
Time Frame: Checked 's and week

You might want to try it both ways to see how it plays out.
