The following formulas (left side) are what Worden is using to calculate the pivot points:

The correct formula for R3 and S3 are shown on the right side. (floor trader pivots)

R3 = High + 2 * (Pivot - Low)                     R3 = PP + 2* (High - Low)

R2 = Pivot + (High - Low)                           Ok

R1= (2 * Pivot) - Low                                   Ok

Pivot = (High + Low + Close) /3                 Ok

S1 = (2 * Pivot) - High                                  Ok

S2 = Pivot - (High - Low)                            Ok

S3 = Low - 2 * (High - Pivot)                     S3 = PP - 2 * (High - Low)

I confirmed it with MyPivots.com and tradestation

Topic: Volume Spike

What's the diifference between Volume Surge and Volume Spike? I believe Volume Surge is:

100*V / AVGV50 ... shows current bar's Volume % change vs average volume of last 50 bars.

What is the Volume Spike formula?  Thanks

JBG

Topic: Shorts as % of the Float
Posted: Tuesday, November 13, 2012 9:02:29 AM

I am trying to show Shorts as % of Float as a column in one of my scans. It is a great tool for finding potential short squeeze situations. It is not in the fundamentals list, but Latest Short (Interest Ratio is. The Float and ADV are also available.

This is the formula

(Latest Short interest ratio X ADV) divided by the Float = Shorts as % Float

How do i get this into my scan as a column?  Or can i? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Topic: Last price vs 200 day moving average
Posted: Wednesday, November 7, 2012 4:10:47 PM

I want an Easy Scan that will show me all stocks that are nearing their 200 day moving average; that are 1% above or below the 200 day MA.

I am looking for good day trading candidates that might be selling off and nearing the 200 day MA (from above) as potential long buys.

Here's what I got so far

on 5 min chart

L < H1 and H1 < H2 and H2 < H3 and   (price is dropping in step down pattern)

V > V1 and V1 > V2  (volume is increasing with the sell off)

on Daily chart

AVGV50 > 1000000

Close/last Vs 200 day MA between 99.00 and 101.00  (this is what i need)

Also what would the formula be for those stocks approaching the 200 MA from below (possible short candidtaes).  Thank you

JBG

I asked this before and you did answer, but i find it very strange that under Chart Properties, Edit Price History  I can select to show todays OPEN line and also Yesterdays CLOSE line, but not todays high and low lines.  If its not available, then I think it should be on the list of future revisions to the program.  Thanks

Topic: Setting Alerts for Conditions in an easy scan
Posted: Monday, October 15, 2012 1:45:54 PM

How do i set an alert for a condition when that condition is true. Right now I have an easy scan that finds all symbols on the S&P500 (or other exchange)  for stocks that meet the conditions parameters.  What i would like is to go one step further and get an alert as each of those symbols meets the parameters of the scan.  Can that be done?  ... (obviously I do not know the symbol names in advance)
