Topic: How to scan for stocks pulling back to a moving average
Posted: Tuesday, July 17, 2012 12:09:44 PM

I fell a little stupid but I totally missed the conditions button.  I couldn't find a way to do it and now I know why.  this makes total sense.  I'm really loving telechart.  Thanks for taking the time to explain things to people in the forums, I've found most of my answers searching the forums and it's a great resource.

I thought one could make a PCF where you just take the close price subtract the moving average and if it's less than a threshold then the scan is true.

I haven't found a way to make my own scans with v12, it seems we're limited to the scans built-in.  Is this true?  This seems to be a major limitation if it's true.  for example I can run the landry pullback scan with V12.. I have to run it on V7 and then copy the symbols and import it into v12.  it's a bit cumbersome..

Topic: EPS Percent Change last Qtr discrepancies with IBD

Thanks Bruce.  I'm not sure what IBD is doing but I'll try to avoid stocks when Telechart says EPS % is negative.

Is it possible to scan for stocks in a watchlist pulling back to a moving avearge?  I can see how this is possible with v7 but I don't see a way to do it with V12.

Thanks

I've noticed that telechart & IBD do not agree when it come to "EPS Percent Change Latest Qtr".  Looking at WWWW, Telechart says -100% and IBD says 67%.

I'm just using this one as an example, but I've found several.  I'm wondering how that could be?  When I use google to find the EPS, I find that they're negative.  Maybe I'm missing something, I'm new at this.

Topic: sorting industry group averages by relative strength
Posted: Sunday, July 8, 2012 12:16:59 PM

Hello, I just started a TC2000 trial and I'm enjoying it so far.

I'd like to sort industry group averages by relative strength.  I added relative strength as a colun but it doesn't contain any values.

Is it possible to do this with v12?  If not is there another way?

Thanks

Topic: Anyone profitable with Stockfinder?
Posted: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 2:15:48 AM
I'm currently evaluating Stockfinder and I have 1 month to decide if I cancel or not.  So I thought I'd ask if there are traders that are profitable trading a system developed with stockfinder and backtested?  I see a lot of discussion of bollinger bands, stochastics, and other price indicators.  I have never found an edge with these indicators.  So I'm curious how others are doing and if there are other things I should consider.

Thanks
Topic: Backscanner stop loss limitation
Posted: Saturday, March 6, 2010 4:07:36 AM
After programming my indicators and rules and testing with backscanner, I stumble on the limitation that backscanner cannot exit at my stop loss % but must instead exit on the OHLC of the bar.  I have platinum, can't backscanner look at the minute data to see when my stop loss would trigger and exit?

I'm basically doing a strategy where I enter on the open and exit on the close and I have both profit target and stop loss.  I'm thinking backscanner cannot handle this.  if this is correct, will Stockfinder 5.0 be able to handle it?

Thanks

Ok I got it.  To backtest 1 year I'd have to use 30m data.  This is not as good as 5m but it's certainly better than daily bars.  Thank you again.

QUOTE (Bruce_L)
You are limited to 5000 Bars in any Time Frame. This means you can go back about 20 years in Daily, but only about 3 Months in 5-Minute Mode.

If I want to backtest 5m over 1 year, could I do 4 backtests, each one covering 3 months?

Thanks for all your info.
