Hello,

I am trying to generate a PCF using RSI and strangely, I am having a hard time even getting the basic RSI value for with 14 periods in Telechart to agree with other websites (eg. Freestockcharts.com). For instance, the 14 period RSI for AAPL on Friday (2/26) should read 64.4 but is coming up 66.7 on the PCF when I test it. I have tested numerous other symbols and the variance is even greater with some. Any ideas?

Hello, I consider myself fairly novice with Telechart and I am looking to incorporate the following characteristics into 1 scan:

Uptrend for the last 30 days
Low volume for the stock over the past 2-3 days
Decrease in price by 2-5% over the past 3 days
Price of stock approaching 10 moving average
Optionable Stocks

What would be the best way to incorporate these criteria

Hello,

I have been using the smart export feature to download a group of stocks. However, I am also interested in downloading the price and volume for the past month of a singe stock. Is there a way to do this in Telechart?

Sam,

I was using both the 4 day and 3 day formula. Over the course of two days about 120 or so fit the profile. Since we are using a virtual platform, I can do this for as many stocks as I'd like. Obviously we can't do this in the real world application but I wanted to get a sense for how much time you spend executing trades. The information you provided was very helpful and it seems manageable. I will keep you posted on results as the come in. Thanks!

Hi Sam,

I would like to comment that the reason I like this approach is that the strategy is extremely disciplined and is automated. The challenge, for me at least, is to keep up with the demands of executing the trades. (Working full time is not a big plus for implementation!). Over the past two days, I have had to enter in 120 plus trades. Granted, the market was decisively down until today prompting many trades but as a practical reality, this system, as with most automated systems, requires a large, consistent, distribution across the whole range of market fluctuations to ensure an unbiased allocation of trades.

If there is a platform that would execute batch trades for mutliple equity transactions, that would be really helpful and perhaps somebody could share that with me. For now, I will continue to implement this prospectively in my virtual platform, manually adding each stock in.

The other challenge is that , since the risk of each trade should be managed closely, each transaction should be kept a low percentage of the overall capital. This made me think that this system may perform well using a vertical call spread using options instead of equities. The call option would be near the 'in the money' range while the put option would be kept very low. This way, you get the leverage of the option (since the capital at stake is relatively low for each trade), and you would also get a cheap hedge which could be helpful when the stock does not go in your favor. Not to mention that the commissions start to add up using such a high throughput method. Just a thought. I may consider testing in the future as well.

Thank you agains Sam for your insight and sharing your experience with everyone.

Hi Sam,

I will try to check in from time to time. If you would like to check in to see how my results are faring, you can contact me at moyc@comcast.net. I would be willing to share anything that I have with respect to various results for this little experiment. Take care.

Hi Sam,

I have 59 from the S&P and an additional 33 that actually meet the more stringent criteria of c<c1 and c1<c2 and c2<c3 and c3>c4. I'll try all 92 of these on a virtual platform and perform some retrospective analysis on how these perform and see if there is any reasonable 'filtering' we could do. My first hunch is to just look at sector rotation. For instance, my sense is that retail would not be a good play here because that sector is starting to roll over. I think the financials, however, could fare will with the recent and anticpated movement by the Fed.

The other consideration is to look at the degree of drop over the last month. Some of these stocks have not dropped that far even though the closing price keeps getting lower on the 9-day. Accelerated drops near zones of support may fare better. It'll be interesting to take a look and see if anything drops out. As always, the simpler the better. I'll keep you posted on my results. I'll continue to do this over the next month, getting the maximum number of stocks that I can into the system.

Hi Sam, I took a quick look at what the actual final gain/loss would be after tallying up everything. I removed any data where a trade would not have been executed. For the stocks listed, it was a total gain of about 1.74% which is certainly superior than the 20% loss in the market that year. A hedge strategy could certainly be useful here.

I will have to try and do this with the data you previously posted. I am curious how much any filtering would help (TSV, Moneystream, RSI, etc). If you have more data, certainly this would be great to look at. Very Interesting!!
