Topic: Scanning the whole Media Gnl Indx Grp in one scan
Posted: Wednesday, May 25, 2005 3:38:40 PM
I would like to do an easy scan using the whole Media General Index Group. There were instructions for a proceedure like this in the discussion boards from a Platinum user as a way to find sectors exhibiting different set-ups. When I tried to follow the instructions, I found that I could not select the whole industry groups ssection as my scan watchlist. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks Craig,

I would still like to know --- If you have a weekly timeframe, are you supposed to use the CCI-14? or is a CCI-5 OK for both daily and weekly?

Thank you in advance for your response.

I took down the formula to do a pcf for the CCI. But how do you create it as an indicator so I can view the graph on one of the windows?

Also, if I create a CCI-5 chart does that need to be used on a daily chart? If I set up a CC-5 chart and change my timeframe on my stock chart to a weekly timeframe will the CCI-5 be correct for that weekly chart? If say, a CCI-14 works better for the weekly chart, then I can set both of them up.

Please advise.
Thank you.

I would like to comment on the effectiveness of candlestick patterns - I would agree that they are very good for short term predictions when used in conjuction with stochastics as you mentioned, and within the context of the general market (as with any indicator). I believe that if you learn them well, or even just the main 10 or 12 patterns, you will never trade without them. There are some very good books on the subject by Steve Nissan and another by Steve Bigalow. Bigelow has a very good educational website - (removed by Moderator)

Good luck in your studies.
Topic: Bum scans

I am a new usere and the first time I used the pcf scan feature it worked great. I put in a few formulas I got off your training site and it worked fine. Then I went to update the pcfs today. It updated but when I selected it from the easy scan watchlist, none of my scans were correct. What happened? Can you help?
Topic: How can I plot the CCI indicator?
Posted: Wednesday, April 20, 2005 3:25:36 PM
I have been using the CCI, Commodity Channel Index at Stockicharts.com and would like to be able to plot this on my telecharts. I see that it is not listed on indicator list. Is there a way to plot this or modify another indicator so that its like the CCI? By the way ,my CCI setting is usually 20.
