Topic: Anchored VWAP
Posted: Tuesday, July 6, 2010 12:30:45 PM
Thanks Bruce for your quick reply.  You're right - I am interested in the anchored VWAP.  I hadn't heard about the moving one, but that also might be interesting.  Any help you can give me on these?

You recently added the VWAP indicator to our indicator list.  However, there appears to be nowhere to set a beginning date or % bands.  Am I missing something?

Topic: Fractal Dimension Indicator for Stockfinder 4
Posted: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 12:06:11 PM

You've added the Fractal Dimension Indicator to Stockfinder 5, as mentioned in Stocks and Commodities Magazine June Issue.  However, it is not in Version 4.  I'm reluctant to upgrade until the backscanner issues have been solved.  Can you help me use this indicator in Version 4?

Topic: Candlestick scans in Stockfinder

Is there a library of candlestick PCF's in Stockfinder that can be scanned for patterns?  I thought I remembered such a thing with blocks, but can't seem to locate it in Stockfinder.

Topic: New Ratio Indicator
Posted: Monday, January 26, 2009 11:13:10 AM
I would like to be able to create an indicator that is a ratio of the NDX--X and the DJ-30.  I would like to be able to divide the NDX by the DJ and get a ratio that could be plotted as an indicator.  E.g. right now, that ratio would be 14.61.  But I don't know how to do a plot using indices.  Any help?
Topic: Getting answers from "Ask a Trainer"

Apparently, I cannot pick up answers from this forum.  Everytime, I search for your replies, I'm getting a database error.  This has been going on for some time - has something happened to make it impossible for me to use this area?  I guess you will have to e-mail me the answer, since I can't read it in this forum.

Thanks.
Topic: Slopes of indicators

I'd like to be able to look at stocks where an indicator is pointing up or down.  E.g., all stocks whose moving average, or MacD, or TSV, etc., that are pointing up or down.  I'd like to be able to do this in TC 2000 and also Blocks.

Also if daily MacD is 10/26/9, would plotting a weekly MacD on a daily chart be the same as 50/130/45?

I was reading Alexander Elder's book, and wanted to try the Triple screen system, and need to be able filter stocks by slopes of their indicators, e.g. MacD weekly histogram ticking up or down.

Thanks for your help.

Topic: Two Blocks questions - stock and mutual fund

Hi Craig -

Have not heard from you yet on data errors throwing off backtests in mutual fund blocks yet. I did notice the error also in a few etf's with bad data. Two examples are TLO and JNR.

Jim - Thanks for the formulae. You are correct - the DPO in blocks stops p/2-2 bars from the current day. Is this a coding error, or is it just a fact that the signals on DPO will always be a few days late? Ok either way, but need to know.

Also, is the formula for DPO in Telechart as given by Craig have a lag also or is it plotted to current date? Doesn't look like it requires future data.

Hi Craig - any luck with your DPO research? I understand the concept - just don't understand the lag in the plot of DPO.
