Hi Bruce
I hope you had great holidays ,
Before holidays we were discussing on RSI so i thought to see if we can do it like this please see attached examples
i have following bullish criteria to meet
1) Wilder RSI14 period trigger should be that it comes out of 30 level
2) It must cross 50 centre line
3) It must come back below 30 and must hold above previous trigger spike that will become signal spike thats where i NEED PCF SPIKE
I have attached couple of examples please see the link
http://www.dhirenshah.com/rsi-example-1/
http://www.dhirenshah.com/rsi-spike-example-2/
On reverse side i have following for bearish criteria to mee
1) Wilder RSI14 period trigger should be that it comes out of 70 level
3) It must come back ABOVE 70 and must hold below previous trigger spike that will become signal spike thats where I NEED PCF SPIKE
http://www.dhirenshah.com/rsi-bearish-spike-example/
Thanks
Dhiren
One more bearish example
http://www.dhirenshah.com/rsi-bearsih-signal-spike-example-2/
I cannot think of any way to do this.
Alright Bruce No worries thats fine i understand i can eyeball then , but instead can we do this if possible
In same Wilder RSI14 i want to overlay on RSI 4 colour dots with HH -HL-LH -LL using calculations of RSI everytime RSI forms a Pivot (hypothetically Imagine the RSI value as CLOSE value of price in line charting),, i just marked few to show u but i m sure you will get an idea of what i want to achieve,
so what i did is I marked pink dots on RSI as bull dots where using this formula
IIF((WRSI14 > WRSI14.1), WRSI14 , 1 / 0)
and marked blue bear dots on RSI using this formula
IIF((WRSI14 < WRSI14.1), WRSI14 , 1 / 0)
Please see the attached link http://www.dhirenshah.com/rsi-hh-hl-lh-ll-example/
my main interest is to see HH-LH and HL - LL using 4 different colours and based on example HH AND LH will always be pink dots and HL AND LL will always be blue dots
and here is another example http://www.dhirenshah.com/rsi-hh-lh-hl-ll-example-2/
may be in rush i must have marked some incorrect labelling but you will get the idea of how it should look with 4 colours dots
thanks again
So I am not quite sure what colors you want for what. If you really just want pink and blue, couldn't you just do the following for pink (HH and LH):
IIF(MAX(WRSI14, 2) < WRSI14.2 AND WRSI14.2 > MAX(WRSI14.3, 2), WRSI14.2, -1)
And the following for blue (HL and LL):
IIF(MIN(WRSI14, 2) > WRSI14.2 AND WRSI14.2 < MIN(WRSI14.3, 2), WRSI14.2, -1)
You will have to offset these plots by adding a 1 period moving average with the offset set to -2.
Bruce the pink dots that i mentioned HH and LH was to explain you that because i don't know the formula so i had only pink dots on HH and LH but now since u gave the formula for HH can you please give me formula for LH ??
and same thing for blue dots i mentioned HL and LL as i didn;t know the formula so i had only blue dots on HL and LL but now since u have the formula for LL can you please give me formula for HL?
so i wanted to do HH GREEN , LH PURPLE , HL BROWN & LL RED thats what i wish to overlay on RSI
thanks

Excellent Bruce it works perfect,
one last thing whenever u have a chance ,,,if i can please get help in making the above PCF little more responsive
so what i need is to have first LL AS TRUE then LH AS TRUE then HL AS TRUE ONCE ALL THREE DOTS ARE TRUE HAPPENS in a sequence BELOW WRSI50 level then show me a spike FOR SCANNING
LL -LH- HL true in sequence then show spike EXAMPLE ROKU" ON 130 MIN CHART
and same for INVERSE
HH- HL - LH if TRUE IN sequence ABOVE 50 then show spike Example " ANTM ON 130 MIN CHART
Sorry, but that is not happening. You can theoretically use SinceTrue (or better yet TrueInRow maybe using the Not function) to determine the sequence, but the resulting formulas are too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums.
Bruce can u please give an example of pcf how would i use since true or true in toe func ,,, like if i want
just LL and LH to be true in row so how would we write that ?
or HH and HL true in row or since true how would we write that ?
The more I think about it and play with it, the more I think it is way more difficult than I was thinking earlier.
Even if I write a formula checking that the most recent instances of LL, LH, and HL happen in that order, this doesn't check anything at all about HH or if maybe there was a HL between the most recent LL and LH (and there isn't any reasonable way to do so). I also can't think of any reasonable way to check for all of these values being below 50.
Bruce a while back for the fractal formula you did this for me ... where if LL - LH in a row is true then +1 and LH - LL in a row is true then -1
so its the same concept that i want to apply on RSI ,
this is the formula
That isn't what it does. All it does is check for both a lower high and a lower low. If there is a lower high it adds 1 to the value and if there is a lower low, it adds -1 to the value.

Bruce this is perfect that will work for me,,, but can u please give me a template so i can fill in myself the above 4 PCF you did from your post Tuesday, January 09, 2018 3:59:18 PM
Like if i want to have HH AND HL in a row then i just fill in that template your formula
same if i want HH AND LL in a row then i can fill in the template or if i want HH AND LH ina row then i can fill in that template
or HL AND LL in a row so i can fill in the template
thanks for all your inputs
Appreciate
The template is pretty straightforward.
IIF(Boolean formula here, 1, 0) + IIF(Boolean formula here, -1, 0)
But you can't just use the formulas from the Tuesday, January 09, 2018 3:59:18 PM ET post because those formulas return numeric values instead of being Boolean (returning true or false.)
Really a better option is to modify those formulas and then put a + in between them.
Replace the WRSI14.2, -10) at the end with either 1, 0) or -1, 0) depending on if it is the formula you want to use to add 1 or the formula you want to use to add -1.
WRSI14.2, -10)
1, 0)
Awesome Bruce thankyou so very much that helps to play with many other formulas
Cheers
Bruce i m having trouble making PCF similar to your Tuesday, January 09, 2018 3:59:18 PM
I want to make for stochastic using the settings as period 5 %k 2 and %D 3 averages simple
I need HH -LH HL and LL on stochastic

Bruce thankyou for the formulas ,, they are plotting correct but they are doing on %D ... while i was looking for %K plots
so what do we need to change on them
thanks a lot again
You will find that with a lot of symbols, this just won't work because you will have the stochastic hit 0 or 100 for multiple bars in a row (and no, I am not re-writing the formulas to try and correct for this).
This can also result in a much higher chance of consecutive highs and lows being exactly the same instead of higher or lower than the previous instance.

Okay Bruce i get it... so mainly what i want to achieve is to sort when i get this set-up like this in stochastic with my settings mentioned, alternative if you can give a formula for a PIVOT on stochastic with my 5-2-3 settings like the attached that would do as well
please see the attached link
LL-LH-HL
http://www.dhirenshah.com/stochastic/
We can check for the HL, but not if the previous low was a LL.
No need Bruce what u did on %K works for me ... i think we must have crossed in cyberspace while typing ....
I don't take all set-ups using this settings but there is a time when they make big moves... and eyeball them
thanks a lot
Have a great weekend...
Sorry Bruce one more thing i forgot to ask.. a non related query
You use to do that forumla under price on moving averages in dot plot style when the following was true and then the dots disappeared if it was not true so i can't recall them how u did ,
Lets use 8EMA AND 21 EMA examples i need 4 different colours
1) PRICE IS ABOVE 8 EMA dots plot yellow
2) 8 EMA ABOVE 21 EMA and price above 8EMA DOTS plot green
3) price below 8EMA BUT ABOVE 21EMA dots plot brown
4) 8 EMA BELOW 21 EMA AND PRICE BELOW 8 EMA dots plot red
if u can please post them again
There are two ways to do this. The newer way using IIF() is probably better even though it is longer, but they are essentiall the same technique. I am assuming "under price" means a dot at the low.
1)
IIF(C > XAVGC8, L, 1 / 0)
Or:
L / ABS(C > XAVGC8)
2)
IIF(C > XAVGC8 AND XAVGC8 > XAVGC21, L, 1 / 0)
L / ABS(C > XAVGC8 AND XAVGC8 > XAVGC21)
3)
IIF(XAVGC8 > C AND C > XAVGC21, L, 1 / 0)
L / ABS(XAVGC8 > C AND C > XAVGC21)
4)
IIF(XAVGC21 > XAVGC8 AND XAVGC8 > C, L, 1 / 0)
L / ABS(XAVGC21 > XAVGC8 AND XAVGC8 > C)
The idea of all of these formulas is to generate a division by zero error when you don't want a dot to plot and plot L otherwise.
Using IIF() allows you to specific the Boolean formula as the first argument, the value you want to plot if true as the second argument, and 1 / 0 to generate a division by zero error when false.
IF()
1 / 0
Using / ABS() allows you to put the value you want to plot when true before the / and the Boolean formula inside the ABS() function so it returns 1 when true or 0 when false. Dividing whatever is before the / by 1 returns whatever is before the / and dividing it by zero returns our division by zero error so the dot doesn't plot.
/ ABS()
ABS()
You can replace L with say 0 if you wanted to plot a line of dots at zero instead of plotting the dots at the low of price in the same pane and scale as price.

Excellent Bruce thanks
Hey Bruce
hope you well,
I have a follow-up question from the pcf you posted on Posted : 09 January 2018 15:59:18
I need a spike pcf when CURRENT WRSI14 CROSSESS UP OR DOWN THE MOST RECENT FRACTAL FROM THE PAST
Does it matter if the fractal is a low or a high? Does the direction of the cross matter depending on if it is a low or a high? Do you want multiple formulas or a single formula?
Ok Yes
So my interest is a follows
1) If current WRSI14 is crossing up HH or LH from past then show me spike one colour
2) If current WRSI14 is crossing down HL or LL from past then show me spike as second colour
Also can you please do 13bar fractal HIGH and LOW for wrsi (where wrsi had 13 bars to the left and 13 bars to the right)
I can't make a 13 bar version for WRSI14 which is fast enough to be practical or post in the forums.
Ok no worries and what about these below queries using your post Posted : 09 January 2018 15:59:18
Please try the following for crossing up the most recent high.

Bruce it works perfect thankyou,
One last twist i need is
1) If current WRSI14 is crossing UP HL or LL from past then show me spike one colour
2) If current WRSI14 is crossing DOWN HH or LH from past then show me spike as second colour
Just switch the XUP and XDOWN at the beginning of the formulas.
XUP
XDOWN
Thankyou :)
Hi Bruce,
I tried the following on TC2000 but got errors, mis-alignment and never got it right. Can you please TC Mail me a chart with the following indicator PCF's please?
Request1:
HH GREEN , LH PURPLE , HL BROWN & LL RED thats what i wish to overlay on RSI
Request2:
If there is a lower high it adds 1 to the value and if there is a lower low, it adds -1 to the value.
Request3: template
Request5:
I'm not in a rush and I will let you do whenever your time permits.
Note: I'm new and only started learning since last two months. I appreciate all the requests people post on the forums and I'm learning a lot from them.
