I am wondering if there is a way to add as a column:

1. Relative Strength vs SPY current - I am able to do this, however cannot change SPY to NYA, Can we do this?

2. Relative Strength vs SPY (a week ago or month ago) - Not sure how to do this?

Also can we plot the same as indicator:

1. Relative Strength vs SPY current - I am able to do this

2. Relative Strength vs SPY (a week ago or month ago) - Not sure how to do this?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

You will need to be using TC2000 v16.0.5935.16314 or newer in order to do this, but you can now add a plain Relative Strength indicator to the chart and use it as a WatchList Column. This will allow you to change the Relative Strength symbol as desired so you could use NYA instead of SPY as the RS symbol.

You can add a Rate of Change Percent Indicator to the chart with the data source set to the RS indicator to then calculate the relative strength as a percentage over time.

How to change the data source for an Indicator

Adding a 1 period moving average to either the RS indicator itself or to the ROC% indicator will reproduce the plot of the parent. This allows you to use the Offset setting of the moving average indicator to plot past values. So for a week ago you can probably use an Offset of 5 and for a month ago you can probably use an Offset of 21 on a daily chart.

Note that the Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) indicator is a fundamental. You can plot this on the chart and do the moving average trick to get past values. There is no way to change the period or symbol however.

Plot historical fundamentals from Morningstar (7:00)

Thanks for prompt response.

I am currently using TC2000 v12.4.5235.25989 then I will not be able to do this?

No, you'll need version 16 but you can get it here: www.TC2000.com

The information in the first three paragraphs (counting the link to changing data source) would not be applicable in TC2000 v12.4.

You would still be able to plot the Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) indicator on the chart and add a 1 period moving average to it with an offset to get past values and use them in a WatchList Column in TC2000 v12.4.

Thanks, I will check it out.

I am able to add ROC % indicator on version 12, however when I add them as column then the values are blank. May be I need to try with version 16.

Plotting the plain Relative Strength indicator where you can change the symbol will only work as a WatchList Column and EasyScan Condition in TC2000 v16.0.5935.16314 or newer. This is true of any child indicator of this RS indicator as well.

Bruce,

I was trying this:

You would still be able to plot the Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) indicator on the chart and add a 1 period moving average to it with an offset to get past values and use them in a WatchList Column in TC2000 v12.4.

When add as column the values are blank for 1 period moving average. Did I miss anything?

It definitely works to do that in TC2000 v12.4. Are you using the Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) indicator (and not the plain Relative Strength indicator)? Is the time frame set to daily or longer?

I am using plain relative strength (which shows up as relative strength vs SPY) and not Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) as Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) does not appear to work properly.

Earlier, had the timeframe as weekly but also tried changing it to daily, when adding 1 period moving average as column getting ... (dots) in the column.

Probably doing something wrong!

You are not doing anything wrong other than missing the part of my posts about which indicator actually works in TC2000 v12 and which doesn't.

The Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) indicator (and child indicators based upon this indicator) will work as a WatchList Column in TC2000 v12.

The plain Relative Strength indicator (when adding it) which is shown as Relative Strength vs SPY (or some other symbol) on the chart will not work as a WatchList Column in TC2000 v12. Nor will any child indicators based upon this indicator.

Thanks for clarification.

Example: EDV

Tried using Relative Strength 1-Yr (vs SP-500) indicator but it shwos up as flat line, Is it not working?

We haven't been calculating this value for ETFs since near the end of September 2015. We should be adding the data back soon.

Bruce:

I downloaded v16 and added plain Relative Strength along with 1 period moving average. It works fine when I add it but after exiting TC and opening it next time, the columns are blank again.

I have to add it everytime to columns for it to work. Am I doing anything wrong?

If you are still having an issue with this, please contact technical support. It is definitely working for me in TC2000 v16.0.5949.17177.
