I use a weekly scan Macd crossover and I would like to scan for the same crossovers of  the previous days.  What kind of formula do I need to add in my scan condition?

Thank you in advance

I have no idea what formula you would use as I do not know the settings of your MACD or what formula you are are currently using. In general, you can just add 1 to all of the bars ago settings of your current formula to check for the previous bar instead of the current bar (and 2 to all of the bars ago settings to check for 2-bars ago, etc.).

Understanding MACD

There is a way to do this without knowing your settings at all. Just add a 1-Period Simple Moving Average to your MACD. Set the Offset to the number of bars ago for which you want to check. Then click on the moving average instead of the MACD and select Create Scan Condition.

Dear Bruce,

Thank you for your reply. I would like to create an easy scan which scans for:

the first  2 hour Macd crossover up (12,26,9) which occurs after  - or at the same time -  the weekly macd crossover up  (6,13,9).

Thank you in advance.

You can check for a 2 hour Exponential MACD 12,26,9 crossup by using the following Condition Formula with a 2-Hour Time Frame selected.

XAVGC12 - XAVGC26 > XAVG(XAVGC12,9) - XAVG(XAVGC26,9) AND XAVGC12.1 - XAVGC26.1 <= XAVG(XAVGC12.1,9) - XAVG(XAVGC26.1,9)

And you can add it to the same EasyScan as  Condition Formula set to a Weekly Time Frame to check for the Exponential MACD 6,13.9 to be above its signal line:

XAVGC6 - XAVGC13 > XAVG(XAVGC6,9) - XAVG(XAVGC13,9)

But there is no way to check for it being the first after the crossup.
