how do you view the % change (+/-)for a given period?  ie.  in a chart plot the price @ one point to another and view the % change for that period.

You can use the Custom Date Sort feature for this. Press shift-T on your keyboard and then click on the chart and drag your cursor from one end of the period of interest to the other. A window will pop up which will allow you to fine tune the date range further.
