Hi I'm currently using stockfetcher.  I scan for stocks meeting my criteria and I trade them (manually).  I also use the backtest feature of stockfetcher to test out trading ideas for entry & exit.  However stockfetcher is end of day only so I'm looking for something that will do intraday, say 5 minute.

From what I understand of stockfinder it will allow me to do this.  So I'm wondering if Telechart can do this and what are the main differences between the two.

Both StockFinder Platinum and TeleChart Platinum have intraday data while StockFinder Gold and TeleChart Gold do not.

StockFinder has BackScanner to do backtesting. TeleChart does not have backtesting.

A more complete comparison is available in the StockFinder vs. TeleChart Features PDF.

Thank you Bruce.  That comparison was very helpful and confirms that I need Stockfinder.  Do you know how far back the intraday (5m?) historical data goes?  I'd like to know how far back I can go for backtesting, both intraday and daily.

Thanks.

You are limited to 5000 Bars in any Time Frame. This means you can go back about 20 years in Daily, but only about 3 Months in 5-Minute Mode.

If I want to backtest 5m over 1 year, could I do 4 backtests, each one covering 3 months?

Thanks for all your info.

No, the 5000 Bar limit is the most recent 5000 Bars.

Ok I got it.  To backtest 1 year I'd have to use 30m data.  This is not as good as 5m but it's certainly better than daily bars.  Thank you again.
