Can I import and export personal criteria formulas into and out of TC2000 from excel? ie if i have the name of the formula in column A and the formula itself in column B?

I am doing some backtesting and need to create several detailed formula's and I am looking for an easy way to create them.

Also, I have several detailed pcf's that I don't use all the time. Is there a way to export these so as not to bog down TC2000 or instruct TC2000 which pcf's to update.

One more question, I am having trouble downloading the "Gold package". Where is the download located on the Worden website.

PCFs cannot be imported or exported to or from an outside program. You can copy (CTRL-C) and paste (CTRL-V) from TeleChart to other window programs and back.

You should have a link in the email sent to you about the new version of TeleChart. That is the only place where you can download the program. What problem are you encountering?

You can’t import and export Personal Criteria Formulas into and out of TeleChart from Excel, but you can use cut and paste to transfer them back and forth. The format in your example is fine for using Excel as a simple PCF storage system.

I do almost all of my PCF writing using a spreadsheet program. I can’t imagine writing the longer ones without it.

For each PCF in TeleChart 2005, you can select ‘Do not update this criteria’.

The link to download TeleChart 2005 isn’t on the website yet. Do you still have the email?

You may want to check out the TeleChart 2005 Pre-Release » Installation or Upgrade Problems forum if you are still having trouble downloading TeleChart 2005.

can you re-send that e-mail?

and is there a way to tell TC2000 which pcf's to update so all of them are not updated everyday?

I just resent the email. There is not a way to prevent individual PCFs from updating in TeleChart 2000, but the pre-release of TeleChart 2005 has this option.

It *appears* that the new Developer's Toolkit offers an object which allows you to grab the criteria formula strings from TC's database. If this works that way (I have not tested it), then you could use that feature to pull the info into Excel several different ways ... but you will have to be a VB programmer to do it. AFAIK, there is no way to "push" PCF's into TC programmatically, but I sure to wish there was!

Jim Dean

P.S. please note that I have not tested this yet, and that the new doc's are very concise, so you'll just have to dive in and try it out, unless someone clarifies it here

Yes you may. Click on the SEARCH option at the top right corner of this page. Search for CCI to get that PCF. You can search for each element you mention to find the many posts devoted to scanning for each element.

The seach function will be your best resource.

Thanks Craig . After finding the actual formula - how and where would it be entered ? Suppose u want to get a double bottom /or top on a Macd after a gap down/or up in which the %R and Cci turn in the same direction of Macd on its second bounce ? . How would you write this ? Can u scan on different time chart frames - hrly, mthly, wkly, daily ? Thanks for your input.

Click the link to view a video about How to create a Personal Criteria Forumula (PCF).

Again, as Craig said, the search function is your best bet. Get your first PCF pasted in and updated, and see what it finds for you. Then if you would like to modify it to find variations of what you want, send us the formula you used, and we will help with the modification.

I just got the cd at the trade show. After I download the Cd - (it says this must be done by 2/20/05) will I be able to enter this New scan for (Macd,Cci,%r) on a daily or mthly or wkly or 60 min chart type of scan - and get delayed info up to the time cd was created . This would allow me to see that it works ? Also i put in the search for Williams %R and nothing came back . Thanks

I just did a search for Williams %R and got 18 hits. Watch the video linked below to review how to do a search of the forums.
