 | I am using the free trial and Iam interested in becoming a full member, but I have not been successful
at writing the scans I want to run. Could you help me
write a formula for these scans? I am trying to implement the Stan Weinstein method referred to in his book,
Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets.

Basing for past 2 years AND the stock has experienced increased
volume surge. STock is just barely moving out of base.
ALSO, I am interested in scanning for sector charts
containing the same chart pattern.Thank you in advance
 for your time.

 | Click here to view a video about finding stocks where Bollinger Bands are expanding or contracting. When Bollinger Bands are contracting, the stock typically has a narrow trading range (sometimes referred to as basing). You may need to adjust the techniques seen in the video to fit your time frame, but the concept will be the same.
Once you find those stocks, you can sort them by Volume Surge Today or Volume Surge 5-Day. Or you could write your own formula based on your own definition of volume surge...and use it to sort your list.

If you build a scan, you can easily scan sector charts rather than stock charts. Simple specify in the EasyScan dialog box that the WatchList to Scan is All Media General Industry Averages.

Let us know if this takes you further down the road to where you want to go. And welcome to the TeleChart family!

 | Thanks so much for the response. I tried finding stocks consolidating for 400 days by changing the 60 day formula to 400 and I retrieved lots of stocks....none of which were long time basers. I am not sure what I am doing incorrectly. I am basically looking for stocks that have been basing for atleast two years and are making a new two year high, but are only slightly above that high.
Here is the formula I used.
 (MAXH400 - MINL400) / ((AVGH400 - AVGL400) * 400) * 99
 Thanks for your help.

 | Sort any WatchList by this PCF in Ascending order and tell me if it is what you want....
 (MAXH400 - MINL400) / (AVGH400 - AVGL400) * 100

Here are the PCFs from the Bouncing video adjusted for your time frame. Use them in the procedure for the video...

 | For kicks and giggles I went through the Bouncing procedure with your 400 bar settings and found a good number of stocks that fit what I think you are looking for. I am anxious to see if you agree.

 | Hi, Craig, I have realized that I have only been putting in the first formula...the one under "trend consolidate 60 days." So, I need to watch the video more slowly to figure out where to put the other formulas...
custom indicator, 60 day directional move, and the watchlist tab PCF.
 Wish me luck!

 | Craig, How do I put the PCFs "60 day directional move" and "Trend/Consolidate 60 days" into the conditions list? When I click add new condition...they are not there.

 | Meg, here is a great video on how to make and use PCFs. Between this and the other video you should be set. Let me know if you still have questions.
