 I would like to create a customized indicator and plot it in Histogram format ( instead of line) but I could not find any option in the program. Would I miss something? Please kindly advise.

 You can only plot as a line with a custom indicator. Note that a histogram is only a bar chart that gives the same information as a line chart. The only difference is graphical.

You CAN force a center zero line in a custom indicator, if you like. Check out this short video: Plotting Custom Indicators with Examples
