I would like to thank Worden Brothers for this contest. The contest, though fun seems biased toward investors as opposed to traders. Here are a few observations that I believe are worth noting. Others may wish to add to this list.
1. Although it is advisable to look at a chart in several time frames, I believe that the best decision is the most current decision, yet the the contest is designed such that the one who makes the earliest decision is rewarded in the case of a tie.
2. If afer analyzing an investment, and one enters it, and it goes sour, I don't think it is wise to ride it out. Of course you don't want to be whipsawed out of a position by small fluctuations, but should one of the sectors that you pick make a dramatic down turn you would not be wise to stay with it.
3. A trader may enter and exit several trades during the month.
4. There is no way in the contest to short one of the sectors, so the only way one can make money is when a sector is going up.
5 On the positive side, this contest encouraged us to make use of a lot of the tools that are in TC2005 and it will be fun to see how well we do.

Good input, Stephen.

Regarding point #1, using the earliest entry as a tiebreaker was meant to encourage people to get in the game and not wait until the last minute (or forget to enter altogether). Everyone had the opportunity to alter their selections up until the entry deadline. Making changes to your allocations does not alter the official date/time of your entry.

No offence intended, but this contest has nothing to do with trading OR investing. It is a lottery pure and simple. No stock software exists which claims to be able to predict a move in anything for a set time period. In this case, one month. If the winner extols the virtues of TC 2005 as his/her reason for winning then they are mistaking luck for the programs ability. TC 2005 is THE most valuable tool I've found for making money in the market, but it will not be the reason anyone wins this contest. Good LUCK to all.

As we are halfway through the contest, the highest score possible(hsp)at this time (July 15): 1063.18 Assuming 300 ea to the top 3 sectors and 100 to 4th place. The hsp for an entrant who allocated 200 to each of 5 sectors is 1056.68. hsp for 100 to ea of 10 sectors: 1046.94

To track this in TC 2005, create [July'05 % Performance] pcf: (C - C'06/30/05') / C'06/30/05' * 100 and insert into sort column in Major Sectors wl. (Open "All Media General Industry Groups" watch list>flag all MG symbols ending in 0 (zero)>File>Create new watch list>Name it Major sectors>check "start with flagged symbols from current...">OK)
