When will SF5 have the capability to open multiple layouts or mulitple instances of SF5?  I would like to have one layout with multiple charrts that focuses on a group of indices (along with various columns that provide status and alert info), and one or more layout swith multiple charts that focuses on stocks or etfs (along with various columns that provide status and alert info).  thanks you

What is the second layout providing you? The ability to have a second main watchlist?

I want one layout with multiple charts to provide real time analysis and trade triggers for major indices, including correlatiion coefficients between the indices, another layout with multiple charts to provide real time analysis and trade triggers for several hundred ETFs, and a 3rd layout with muitple charts to provide real time analysis and trade triggers for several thousand optionable stocks.   I need multiple columns for each layout to perform filters and track indicators.

I have a powerful multiple CPU computer and multiple monitors.

Thanks ... Dan

You can have all of this without the need to open multiple layouts. To get more lists for filtering, use the open window button on the watchlist drop down (to the far right of the item you want to select).  If you need to dock more charts together, add additional frames to your layout from the window menu.

I am concerned about speed.   How do I guarantee that my mulitple CPUs are being efficiently utilized to deal with the multple watchlists and charts?

Does SF utilize multiple CPUs more efficiently if all layouts are ganged into one open application instance, or will it do better with mulitple instances of SF open at the same time, assigned to different tasks?

FWIW, I see being able to open more than one layout as highly desirable.

Parsing out whether you "can" or "cannot"  (somehow!) have a laundry list of things technically "open and available" is a weak substitute for the simplicity-of-organization and ease-of-use the user could/would derive from having the ability to define layouts as desired, and have as many of them open as the resources of their machine permit.

The extreme utllity of what for SF would be "multiple layouts" has been more than proven on other softwares and trading platforms.  All those who have ever experienced this (which is alot of people) will very quickly notice this lack in SF.

I know this would be a major job, and would have to happen somewhere up the road, but it does concern me to read comments that suggest Worden "doesn't get" the real value of this.  IMO, this is one of the "big issues" that really should be "got"!

Progster  - Well said.

To elaborate on your point, and in reply Ken's comments above, having to program one template with multiple sets of charts, indicators, filters, and watchlists, although quite doable, is quite inconvenient.  And I do believe that one overburdened template affects the speed, parrticularly for real time applied to large watchlists.  Having a different template assigned to dfferent CPUs seems much more optimial.

Worden gets it – here is how it works:

You run TeleChart to get watchlist flags on a hot key and perform other tasks that needs to be done efficiently. You run StockFinder for the pretty charts and RealCode. You run FreeStockCharts.com to get alerts and free real-time quotes. Finally, you sign up for the Triple-Suite that includes the soon to be released StockScanner application with the full-featured BackScanner.

That is 4 independent layouts right there.
