As trainers we cannot offer trading instruction or advice. I will move this to the Market Talk forum for you.

You have to contact your broker.

Ask them what they offer for options.

Thanks

If you don't even know how to place a put order, I can you even be thinking about putting the order. If you don't eve know how to place an option order which is the most basic thing, how will you be able to select the proper striking, or time period, or else. Don't you think you should learn how to swim before jumping in the pool??
Unbelievable.

400 @ 29? Sounds like you want to sell the stock short rather than buying a put? If you want to buy a put then 400 shares would equal 4 contracts. There will be no strike price at 29.00 Typically stocks in this price range will have strike prices at 2.50 increments so you will typically have 25.00, 27.50,30, 32.50 etc.

You really do need to understand more about options before you use them. When you opened your account with your broker did you lie and say you knew how to trade options? If you didn't lie then your account is probably not approved for options anyway. Good luck.

Ditto above. You will quickly loose your hind end if you don't spend the time learning more.

Like HNC said, 400 puts would equal 40,000 shares of stock. Please take this adivce. A smart broker would NOT even allow you to trade options yet.

Most online trading firms have a free information source about the basics to expert level on options. Some even offer various levels of understanding thru classes. The one I use "E-----" has them. Learn about them before one penny is put to any option play -PLEASE DO THAT.
Don't spend a dime on any software package as I have learned they are a trap. Hard work to get wisdom will pay off. You can get all the information for free that will be very useful.
