In TC2005, using the system sort, On Balance Volume indicator,
calculating the daily percent change.....

is there a way to go backwards, say a day last week or last month,
and calculate daily changes? thanks Peter

There is no OBV system sort. Do you mean the indicator sort?

You can create PCFs for the daily percent change in OBV in the past

Percent Change 1-week ago
100*(OBV1-OBV1.5)/OBV1.5

Percent Change 1-month ago
100*(OBV1-OBV1.21)/OBV1.21

There are times you can get unexpected results from these formulas because OBV can have negative values.

Craig,

The value returned by the PCF, including the sign, depends upon the other PCFs being updated at the same time. The value returned tells nothing about the change in the OBV plot from five days ago to today except whether there is a change or not.

In light of the above, it appears that the PCF should not be used.

Do you agree?

Thanks,
Jim Murphy
