I was using TC2000 v.7 to double check DI+/DI- crossovers used in another backtesting program I have and found some large discrepancies in late 2009 and early 2010 for SPY.

1.  Does TC2000 v.7 use Wilder smoothing for its calculations of DI+,DI-, and ADX?

2.  It looks like the historical data for 12/14/2009 is incorrect for SPY, as my chart in TC2000 v.7 shows 105.48 as the Low that date, instead of 111.13, if so can you guys correct it.

Thanks,

Ed S.

TC2000 version 7 does in fact use Wilder's smoothing when calculating the +DI/-DI. Note that the ADX indicator in TC2000 version 7 has both a DX Period and an Average Period. You would generally need both of these to be the same in order to match the results of most other programs (which would normally only have 1 period).

I have submitted your report about the low of SPY on 12/14/2009 to our data department on your behalf.

Hey Bruce,

Thanks for the info and forwarding of the data correction request.

The data department has already made the correction and now I have matching results across all 3 program's charts.

fyi, One of my other programs lets me set the Avg and DX period separately while the other uses one setting for all.  Since the settings I was backtesting were the  standart 14 day periods its not an issue to get them all lined up to chart the same.
