I need help with 2 indicators please.

First Indicator: Bollinger Bands inside Keltner Channel.

Settings: Bollinger Bands period 21 and std. dev. 2.0, Keltner Channels period 21 and ATR multiplier 1.50.

 

Second Indicator: Bollinger Bands inside Keltner Channel.

Settings: Bollinger Bands period 21 and std. dev. 2.0, Keltner Channels period 21 and ATR multiplier 2.25.

Change of indicator settings.

First indicator: Bollinger Bands stay the same, Keltner Channels period 21 and ATR multiplier 1.20.

Second indicator: Bollinger Bands stay the same, Keltner Channels period 21 and ATR multiplier 1.80.

The following Condition Formula is for the Simple Bollinger Bands 21, 2.00 to be completely inside the Exponential Keltner Channels 21, 1.80. You can change the sections which are bolded to change the width of the Keltner Channels (in blue) or Bollinger Bands (in red). Both appear twice in the formula.

Bruce, would you pleasse review the code for the squeeze indicator with the settings of 1.2. It dosen't appear to pick up all charts that are in the squeeze. Please review WFM on 7/16/12 and 7/17/12. Thank you.

The Simple Bollinger Bands 21, 2.00 are not completely inside the Exponential Keltner Channels 21, 1.20 on either 7/16/12 or 7/17/12. The Upper Bollinger Band is outside the Keltner Channel on both dates.

The Upper Simple Bollinger Band 21, 2.00 is definitely above the Upper Exponential Keltner Channel 21, 1.20 on my charts on both 7/16/12 and 7/17/12.

Are you viewing a Daily Chart?

Are you using something other than the following settings?

Bollinger Bands
- Period: 21
- Std Dev: 2.00
- Average Type: Simple

Keltner Channels
- Period: 21
- ATR Multiplier: 1.20
- Average Type: Exponential

Are the Bollinger Bands and Keltner Channels both of Price History? If so, make sure Price History isn't using the Heiken-Ashi Plot Style as this would actually changes the prices being used to calculated the Bollinger Bands and Keltner Channels.

Thanks Bruce, I have it worked out. Must have been the way I set up the chart.

If I wanted to use the exponential average for the bollinger band setting, What changes should I make to the chart? Thanks again for your help.

You just have to edit the Bollinger Bands and change the Average Type to Exponential to change the chart. The Formula actually becomes much shorter.

What changes to the above formula are needed to bring the BB 21-2 inside or outside KC 25-2.5. Another words change the Keltner Channels: Period: 25  ATR Multiplier: 2.5  Average Type: Exponential

Note that the centerlines won't match, so since I'm assuming you still want the shorter formula from my Wednesday, November 14, 2012 12:39:49 PM ET post, we are going to have to assume they match even though they don't. The following Condition Formula checks for the width of the Bollinger Bands to be less than the width of the Keltner Channels. You can change < 2.5 * to a > 2.5 * to check for the width of the Bollinger Bands to be greater than the width of the Keltner Channels.
