I would like to ask a question about how to write conditions in backskanner. I use moving averages of moving averages in a trading template in TCNet. I would like to be able to write these conditions in the backskanner. For example:Avg3,w X above avg(avg3,w,3) and a avg3,w,< avg(avg3,w,6)for longs ; Avg3,w X below avg(avg3,w,3) and a avg3,> avg(avg3,w,6) for shorts. I also use relative strength (S&P 500) and I apply a 5dma to the RS SP-500 line, then I add a 3dma,w of the 5dma. I also use Stochacties and I apply a 5dma,w to the Stochastics moving average. I need to know the conditions necessary to create the backscan. If you have any questions on any portion of this request, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help. Bobby Jones

We don't understand the syntax used in the request and can't figure out what w stands for. We need the answer to the question StockGuy asked in the original topic to provide a solution:
Conditios for backscans

I would like to know how to write the condition for the following: 3dma of close front weighted X up thur a 3dma front weighted of the first 3dma and for a 6dma front weighted of the first 3dma front weighted. The 3dma front weighted to be < the 6dma front weighted of the 3dma front weighted of close. this is a long trade entry. Reverse the above conditions for a short entry. RS SP 500: conditions ; a 5dma fw of RS SP 500, then a 3dma fw of the 5dma X up or down (long or short trades) Stochastics: go to nyny chart and open Bruce L note and look at the template. It should help you understand this request better

Thank you. I think I understand now from your written description, but will take a look at your Bruce L note on NYNY to make sure before attempting to create a BackScan.

The Bruce L note on NYNY does not appear to be shared (at least I couldn't see it when adding you to My Favorite Authors).

Bruce, go to my profile and open the last post. When you open nyny bo you see hottrader with a colored symbol at the end of hottrader?

When I open your profile in TeleChart Platinum, under Notes this user has shared to your clubs:, I get This User has not shared any notes. Let me do some research on this end to see what I can find out.

I've joined a club where the note is being shared (2nd note for Bruce L). I have some questions before I create a BackScan.
Your written description specifies Front Weighted Moving Averages. The Chart Template for the Chart attached to the note uses Simple Moving Averages. Do you want the BackScan to use Front Weighted or Simple Moving Averages by default (I can make it so you can switch between the two fairly easily)?
Your written description specifies a 3-Period Moving Average with 3 and 6-Period Moving Averages of this first Moving Average. The Chart Template appears to have a 3-Period Moving Average of a 3-Period Moving Average with the 6-Period Moving Average being an average of the second 3-Period Moving Average, not the first. Which would you prefer?

The template had a setting in error. I need a 3dma of close, then a 3dma of the 3dma, then a 6dma of the first 3dma. I used simple because TC NET does not have a waited option. Set it up for easy change. LONG TRADE condition 1: 3dma X above the 3dma of the 3dma condition 2: 3dma < the 6dma of the 3dma SHORT TRADE/EXIT LONG TRADE condition 1: 3dma X below the 3dma of the 3dma condition 2: 3dma > the 6dma of the 3dma
RS SP 500 5dma fw of the RS SP 500 condition : 5dma fw x above the 3dma of the 5dma fw (long) condition : 5dma fw x below the 3dma of the 5dma fw (short)
STOC: looking for a way to define the changes in stoc at the bottom and top of each move(see template)

Please download the attached SnapSheet to:
\My Documents\My SnapSheets\SnapSheets
You should then be able to open this SnapSheet from File | Open SnapSheet | My SnapSheets and view the Block Diagrams for each Condition and Plot using Properties.
The three Panes are each independent of each other. There is only one Watchlist Selector, but each Watchlist Tab allows you to the symbol for the appropriate Pane. You should be able to tell which is which because the indicators on each Pane are related to the BackScan on the Watchlist Tab which switches its symbol.
I put the Buy and Sell Conditions in the BackScan on the primary Watchlist (related to the top Chart Pane), but did not put Sell Short or Cover Short Conditions. You should be able to save the conditions from the Buy and Sell and then add them to Sell Short and Cover Short as desired.
The RS SP 500 BackScan (and middle Chart Pane) should be complete based on your description.
The Stochastic BackScan (and bottom Chart Pane) just looks for crossovers through 30 and 70 of an Exponential 12,3 Stochastic. The trainers cannot give settings, interpretation or investment advice. Even if we could, I really do not know how the pictured changes at the top and bottom of each move would best be defined.
If you provide more details on what in these Stochastic patterns you find significant, we might be able to create BackScan Conditions to find what you want.
