Bruce, these were a few symbols that came up in the scan. ACIW, FOXF AVEO, AKAM. I do not see how these fit the scan criteria you were talking about.

"the pivot high requires 13 lower highs on both sides and the pivot low requires 13 higher lows on both sides."

What does "Requires" mean (Within 13 bars)? these 4 stocks listed here do not have 13 higher highs or lows. 

Is there a way to make a visible indicator on the chart-A horizontal line to show which Pivot High and low the scan is looking at?

The formula doesn't try to guess at what you might subjectively think is a major pivot high or major pivot low. It uses the specific unamibiguous objective definitions outlined (and is why I have frequently repeated this definition).

The pivot high checks for at least 13 bars before the high and at least 13 bars after the high to have lower highs.

The pivot low checks for at least 13 bers before the low and at least 13 bars after the low to have higher lows.

The formulas to show you the most recent 13 bar pivot high and 13 bar pivot low are actually included in the formulas. You will generally want to use the Dots Plot Style, because otherwise you won't see when the indicator stops plotting after 50 bars. The plots will start at the point where the 13 bar pivot high and 13 bar povot low are detected (13 bars after the actual pivot high or pivot low).

Pivot High (13 bars on either side):

The formulas can be written for a different number of bars on either side (and the number of bars before and after can be set differently). They can't be written to guess at what you might subjectively see as a major pivot high or major pivot low.

On another note, the previously given formulas are designed to return numeric values and do not return true or false, so they don't actually check for the order of the pivot high and pivot low. The formulas assume this has already been tested or is already known.

You can make it so formulas return a division by zero error if the most recent pivot high and most recent pivot high did not happen in the correct order for the result to be valid however.

Thanks Bruce, I am glad, it uses an unamibiguous objective. Because it picks up one of the stock examples of ACIW, -picture in a previous post from yesteraday, Which from the current price yesterday, there were 8 bars from the pivot low, then from the pivot low to last high was 6-so 14 bars back to that pivot high, as it is testing that pivot high. I am suprised it picks up on that pivot low as it is only 8 bars back?, from the current price, but I would call that a pivot Low. 

Yes, I am plotting the Indicator line, on the chart with, -Pivot High (13 bars on either side):  thanks, I can see it. 

Your last formula, 

-Retracement from Pivot High toward Pivot Low only when Pivot High is more recent than Pivot Low. I think I understand?, that it can rank a list in order with a value from 0 or 1 thru 100. But, I would probabbly rather use a range. like from one of the first formulas, you had in this form. But I may ask about that, a diffrent time.

*I would probabbly rather use a range-of sticking to the use of more of a Fibonacci definition, like a pull back of between (at least, with using Fibonacci, not wanting to see low or high end values) 40% to 60% from the pivot high-for example. But I may ask about that, a diffrent time. thanks

The last two formulas just put the formulas I gave you earlier inside of some tests so they don't always plot or return a value.

So the "Retracement from Pivot High toward Pivot Low only when Pivot High is more recent than Pivot Low" has the first formula inside of the following.

IIF(TrueInRow(NOT(MAXH13 < H13 AND H13 > MAXH13.14), 50) < TrueInRow(NOT(MINL13 > L13 AND L13 < MINL13.14), 50), first formula, 1 / 0)

And the "Retracement from Pivot Low toward Pivot High only when Pivot Low is more recent than Pivot High" formula has the second formula inside of the following.

IIF(TrueInRow(NOT(MINL13 > L13 AND L13 < MINL13.14), 50) < TrueInRow(NOT(MAXH13 < H13 AND H13 > MAXH13.14), 50), second formula, 1 / 0)

This makes it so the formulas don't return a retracement percentage unless the most recently decetected pivot high and most recently detected pivot low are in the correct order for that retrecament to be valid.

So you can definitely add things like > 40 to the end or > -50 to the end and it should work.

Yes, that test seems good. You had gave me another formula earlier ago, 

"If the pivot low happened after the pivot high, then you would want to use the following formula instead." -BEARISH RETRACMENT

So, I have been using those-where the 1 formula -The pivot High happend after the pivot low-then had some retacment. 50% example. Bullish RETRACMENT and the other formula for BEARISH RETRACMENT. low happened after the pivot high. 

These last formulas-IIF(TrueInRow(NOT(MAXH13 < H13 AND H13 > MAXH13.14), 50) < TrueInRow(NOT(MINL13 > L13 AND L13 < MINL13.14), 50), first formula, 1 / 0)

how are they diffrent again, or are they the same? If I am using 2 separate formulas- the One for Bullish RETRACMENT and the other formula for BEARISH RETRACMENT. 

Also, I was looking at the pivot hi and low indicators, AKAM and FoxF, seems there is a lower pivot Low, and the Low Pivot indicator is not picking it up, it is at a higher low?. But the Hi pivot is working so far, getting the high pivot.

The previous formulas didn't actually check for the order. The formulas assumed you already tested for and knew the order or would manually check the order yourself.

The templates from my Friday, February 23, 2018 4:01:35 PM ET post allow you to put the formulas given earlier as replacements for first formula and second formula in order to test for this as part of the formula (the formulas won't return values when false).

Also, I was looking at the pivot hi and low indicators, AKAM and FoxF, seems there is a lower pivot Low, and the Low Pivot indicator is not picking it up, it is at a higher low?. But the Hi pivot is working so far, getting the high pivot.

There are only 12 higher lows after the low in your image of FOXF (it does show up today now that there are 13 higher lows).

There are only 9 higher lows after the low in your image of AKAM.

How do you count them again, sorry that may seem basic. 

From the green hammer candle at 35$ FOXF I am counting back about 6 bars before it starts to go side ways. 

AKAM-I am only counting about 3 bars back. before it starts to go side ways. 

Also when you say,  9 higher lows after the low in your image of AKAM-that should not be on the scan list right? Only stocks with 13 or more?

There must be 13 bars with higher lows both before and after the the pivot low. The lows only need to be higher than the central low. The lows do not need to continue to rise going away from the central low.

There must be 13 bars with lower highs both before and after the pivit high. The lows only need to be lower than the central high. The lows do not need to continue to fall going away from the central high.

The pivot low and pivot high will need to be at least 13 bars ago (with the current bar being zero bars ago). So if you start counting with the current bar as 1 going back, you need to count to at least 14 before it will count that bar.

The formulas check for the most recent points that a pivot high or pivot low was detected in the most recent 50 bars (so the actual pivot high and pivot low both need to be 63 bars or less ago and have finished forming). It doesn't care if there is a potential pivot high or pivot low that doesn't qualify yet has happened since (and trying to create a formula which does check for this is not going to happen). As long as there is both a pivot high and pivot low detected during the most recent 50 bars, it will use those values.

For FOXF, the current pivot high in your image happened on December 4, 2018 and started plotting on December 21, 2018. The current pivot low happened on January 10, 2018 and started plotting on January 30, 2018. If you include today's data, the current pivot low happened February 6, 2018 and started plotting today (February 26, 2018).

For AKAM, the current pivot high happened on January 9, 2018 and started plotting on January 29, 2018. The current pivot low happened on January 16, 2018 and started plotting on February 2, 2018.

You can change the number of bars both before ind after the central high or low independently if you want to use something other than 13. You can require 13 bars before and only 2 bars after for example, but the number of bars both before and after have to be fixed when using pivot highs and pivot lows in this technique.

I see it now, thanks. FOXF is a good example, Since it is hapening today. and give it another day or so and the line will start to go horizontal where the pivot occured 13 bars ago. thanks again.

when you say, the number of bars both before and after have to be FIXED when using pivot highs and pivot lows in this technique. Isn't the current formula of 13 before and after Fixed as well. they are all Fixed formulas? (Keep manually chaning the nunbers in the formula to get what you want.

Yes, the 13 before and 13 after are fixed numbers. You could just use other combinations of fixed numbers instead. What you can't really do is have formulas that change those numbers for different symbols or time frames automatically in some fashion.

Hey Bruce 

Just got chance to catch up with this thread of Swing PCF again, you gave some amazing ideas and formulas in most recent discussions.. 

so i have two part follow -up question 

1)  from your response of  Friday, February 23, 2018 9:54:54 AM   where u said Pivot High (13 bars on either side): formula and Pivot Low (13 bars on either side):

so can you please slightly modify those two formulas in a way that if i can plot in 4 colour dots like

HH - LH - HL and LL formulas..  as that is visually more appealing and will be easy to guage larger patterns and trend setting up

2) And I like them as extended dots so keeping them  as they are is there a way when i scale them with price i can still get value of the most recent pivot high and pivot low

The first two formulas given in the Friday, February 23, 2018 9:54:54 AM ET post mentioned in your question to keep plotting the dots.

No, as we have discussed previously, I cannot make it so those dots keep plotting in four different colors based on if they are a higher high, lower high, higher low, or lower low. I can only do that on the bar where it is detected, not on later bars.

Ok Bruce my questions second part i got it ... but for the first question can you please do formuala that on the bar where it is detected.. and will it possible to plot the dot slight higher then the high point above the candle and slight lower then the low point below the candle

The pivot high should already be above the high of the bar where it is plotted where it is detected since that bar is 13 bars after the pivot high and by definition below the pivot high. The same general idea applies to the pivot low.

Make sure to overlay the Custom PCF Indicator in the same pane and scale as price using the Dots Plot Style.

If you overlay the first two formulas given in the Friday, February 23, 2018 9:54:54 AM ET post as Custom PCF Indicators using the Dots Plot Style into the same pane and scale as price prior to the following four formulas you can continue the lines, but only the first dot can be colored to indicate if it is a HH, LH, LL, or HL using the following four formulas.

These formulas can only detect the previous pivot high or pivot low if it was 76 or fewer bars ago.

Thank you Bruce that is perfect i scale them as you mentioned and it works nice .,, only thing that in your above pcf your typo error is labelling Higher HIGH AND LOWER HIGH i thing u need to interchange them , formula is fine....
