Hi,

I'm trying to create a RSI crossover.....for instance when the 5 RSI crosses the 25 RSI.  I was able to do it in Freestockcharts very easily, however when trying in StockCharts the program automatically stops working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thx. Jeff

Jeff... First of all - how were you able to do it in FSC - it has no conditioning capability.

All you need to do in SF5 - is to have both RSIs up - drag and drop them on the same window ( Overlay) - and then Click on New Condition - and in the top left menu - it'll come up - various crossover conditions

In Freestocks:

-I added in the indicator RSI set it 5....
-I then left clicked on the "RSI 5" I had just set up and selected "Add indicator"....
-Searched for RSI and added it
-Then changed the newly added indicator to "RSI 25"
-Now allows me to see whether the 5 RSI has crossed above the 25 RSI for that stock.....

When I tried the same steps in Stockfinder...it crashed and was forced to close it down...is this a bug i.e. Should I be able to add an indicator?

I have done the drag and drop as you have indicated....however I can't see "New Condition"...I don't have version SPF5 yet-so perhaps that is why?

I take it a "condition" in SF5 is the same as "rule" in SF4?

Thx. Jeff

Ok..Got it - yet I do get a crash sometimes - in that dialog box - especially if I choose Real Code in the Child Indicator.

Do not do it in that fashion in SF .....add 2 separate indicators ( In FSC - that's what you will get also - only a few indicators are "Child Indicators") ......and drag and drop them in the same pane.

I am guessing yes in SF4 - I do not have it - and always had SF5

Hi....I must be missing something...I dragged one pane into the other.....I then went and set the period to 5 for one of them and set the smooth to zero....the line on the chart disappeared.....

In Freestocks and in Telecharts you can have one RSI crossing over the other....In Freestock there is no "smooth" parameter...just have to enter period desired i.e. "5".......

I can't remember how it worked Telechart but I did have a tab for the extact samething...5 crossing the 25.....

burls,
The Smooth setting is the Period of a Moving Average. The reason you don't get a Plot when Smooth is set to 0 is that a 0-Period Moving Average is not valid. Try using a Smooth of 1 instead.

Also try Dragging and Dropping one of the RSIs onto the other RSI instead of just Dragging and Dropping it into the Pane. This should allow you to Overlay with the other RSI instead of just selecting Overlay.

Thx Bruce-I'll use the smoth set to 1....

One thing.....By dragging and dropping one RSI onto the other RSI...do you mean drag and drop directly on top of the text "RSI 5"?

burls,
I'm pretty sure Dragging and Dropping it directly onto the Indicator or the name of the Indicator should work, but it is easier probably to Drag and Drop it onto the name of the Indicator as you are less likely to miss and just hit the Pane as a whole.

Working with Indicators

Creating Conditions

You mentioned you have StockFinder 4. This means you may end up having to Drag and Drop the Indicators to the same Pane and then right-click on one of them and select Scaling | Scale With | (the other Indicator) instead to get them into the same Pane and Scale.
