Please note: These are only considerations; I will be filtering them through the tobydad profile if this does turn out to be a brief rally.

Further note: if we do a sustain a 1-2 week rally, I expect reasonably good returns from most of these:

PQ
FOE
CENX
AIB
FAS
BNE
DPTR
GMXR
XTXI
CACB
HBAN
LVS
C
GCI
PACR
SOA
SGY
HPY
SBGI
UCBI

Again, please don't just jump on these; but it could be the right time.

This is part of my new strategy for this market. I'm shorting some but, for those of you that are busy like me, this is a very relaxed system with good returns and little time invested. Instead of buy and hold, I call it sell and wait. Then I buy a bunch of these that showed strength before the most recent steep decline, and buy them as they begin to show some strength once again.

God's best (that is, the knowledge of His Son first and foremost) to you all.

By the way, if anyone responds and I don't answer, it's only because I'm pretty busy these days. I just don't have time to review stuff we've reviewed ad infinitum (or nauseum...whichever your preference).

I put this list out there so that, if it is a good one, others can profit.

All God's best.

I finally get it.

Never thought I say this in a Tobydad post:

Sold GMXR today 13% profit.
(bought yesterday)

Thanks

Dice;

You finally get it...but I don't get it. Are you joking about something. Sorry to be so dense but I'm missing your point; what's the "never thought I would say this in a Tobydad post" mean?

thanks

Tobydad your picks have always puzzled me.

I tend to like the IBD type/style stock. Great fundamentals,
strong relative strength, going up, at least $10 a share.

Your stocks always seemed low priced, distressed,
volatile and going down.
(almost the exact opposite of what I like)

I went out west to visit my brother and he had a friend
who trades stocks. He's up about 200% over the last
year only trading long. (yes only long in this market)

This was exactly the type of stocks he was buying and
what he was using.
(hmmmmmm there is a method to this madness)

I decided to take a look at it and found good pops
of one to two days even in some weak market
rebounds.

So that led to me buying GMXR
(holycow a tobydad type stock before you posted it)

Also bought yesterday with the same intent:

LNC 22%
AFL 16.5%

Then I had to stop and buy some "normal" stocks.
(heh,heh)

After all this time I finally understand where tobydad's
coming from.

I feel like someone who's moved to another country
and learning to drive on the otherside of the road.

Thanks

Welcome to the bottom feeders club Diceman. TB maybe we should reserect the local chapter.

My trading has changed with the tides as is evident by my posts over the years on this forum. There was a time when I too made a living off these types of stocks. I guess you can call it counter trend trading. In the markets most of the time; what goes down must eventually come up. There is merit to this kind of trading style and Tobydad has come as close to perfecting it as anyone else has on this forum. I remember having to defend trading the penny stocks to the old veteran traders way back when Tobydad, me and a few others were discussing our strategies. I do miss those days TB. I must give you credit. Although I no longer trade that way, you are still pulling in the profits. I will look at your list and see if I can trade some of them. Take care old friend.

Well, with the exception of  BNE, GMXR, and GCI, I think I do see a method to the madness in Tobydad's picks also -- Either one or both high and low must be higher than the previous day's high or low.
Is that right Tobydad?

IIRC when I was last frequenting this forum, I believe that TobyDad pays great attention to the LR30 (Linear regression 30) line, which has to almost cradle the candlesticks ie is underneath the candles and rising (Tobydad "crowbar")

I also believe that he pays great attention to the TSV 26 and its Bollinger bands, with the TSV penetrating the TSV LBB13 line downwards and then rising back into the bands.

if you look at those stocks, most met the above criteria.  It seems an effective way of picking oversold stocks that are starting to turn around.

Wow! I do not know what happened there. No, I don't think I'm so funny that I needed to repeat my post like 10 times.

Anyway, FNM, buy at 0.43 to 0.45 for a quick return. I think it has some serious potential.

By the way, ZLC is the quintessential Tobydad profile. If it crosses yesterday's high, it could run a bit.

I am still trying to figure out why Diceman played GMXR.  But the charts that I like the best from your list are LVS, FAS, UCBI, HBAN, HPY,

Fannie Mae is a major penny stock and heavy in dedt. I already play FAS. Yes we should start up the bottom feeders club. Maybe shark attack and Scott will come back. Jtchow is in our trading group. He has followed me every where I go and he is the salt of the earth. Tobydad and Diceman it would be great if you guys could join our day traders group, all you need is a headset with mic (radio shack $20).

Keep up the good work TB.

Apsll.

No question FNM is not fundamentally sound. We'd just be riding along with the greed of those that want to think that everything will be OK now.

This overall group up about 25% so far. My group of 20 best picked on March 4th is up around 43%.

Again, this is an approach that allows me to do other things with my time when the market is diving. Then, during small bounces, I only need about 5 days to get a very nice return in the portfolio. I almost don't want the bull market to come back.

Did I say that?!

Thats ok Tobydad after much success with the Inverse ETF's I am not sure that I want the return of the Bull right now either. Kudos on a very successful list..

Apsll,

Thanks, by the way, for pointing out FAS and FAZ. They weren't even on my radar but, my goodness, I'm using 5,20,50 ema's and, WOW, nice returns on that 1 min thing.

Can you re-share your technique. 5,20,50 is all I know on this kind of trading.

How are you Tobydad. Actually I am more carefull trading the Financials these days; they seem to be out of step with the SPX. I use the SPX as a benchmark Index for Market Bias. I am having more luck recently with BGZ & BGU. Below you will see two charts. The first is the 1 minute chart of the SPX and you will notice that the first half of the day was a nightmare. The Index did not show its hand until about 12:45pm est when it broke from its trading range or Box. At the same time BGZ also broke its trading range and I entered accordingly. I do not use moving averages on the 1 minute charts. I simply use trend lines support and resistance levels. I will also use chart patterns such as rising wedges and descending channels.

APSII;   You didn't answer tobydad's question about moving averages.   Is this some sort of national secret?    Or is it a money loser?   Or are you just getting rich all by yourself?   Throw us poor stupids a bone, please.

John;

He answered; he doesn't use moving averages with the 1 min stuff, just support, resistance and trendlines, which is a pretty good way to go.

John please control your self. If you are trying to gain access to the famous four that I do not get along with then I am sure that they will waive the initiation fee for you. Believe it or not I do get along with 98% of the good folks on this forum. And I do not take myself too serious.

OK, I'm thinking we might get a pullback to around Dow 7000, VIX 46ish. When we hit that point, if we get a short bounce, then I will (if time permits) post about 20 picks. The pattern thus far has proven faithful to start entering buys above the high on the daily charts. You might have to adjust the price several days to get entry. Once that happens, you may get a very nice 1 or 2 week ride.

The group I posted from 3/3 was up over 60% (avg) after a few weeks.

By the way, I have nothing to sell and don't care if anyone rides along or not. Just trying to be generous with what seems to be a great blessing.

Hi Tobydad,
I was wondering if you would share your selection process for the stocks you have pointed out either here or I would be happy to give you my email.
Thanks,
Scott

John, I have many moving average systems but I use them on the daily charts during Bull market conditions. Not the day trading that I am currently doing.

Well, the primary group is up 85% in about 20 days.

Thanks be to God.

A number of these look good on the CCI 20 scan; or DavidJohnHall's Dragon pattern.
