I'm looking for a scan when 3EMA is under 8EMA on the daily yesterday and 3EMA crosses over 8EMA on the 10 minute today. I'm using version12.3.

Thanks

Ken

Start by adding the 3EMA and 8EMA to the chart if they are not already there. Set the time frame of the chart to 10 minutes. Then click on the 3EMA and select Create Scan Condition.

Create Conditions from Your Chart

If you want to be notified whenever the 3EMA was under the 8EMA on a daily chart yesterday and the 3EMA is above the 8EMA on a 10 minute chart currently, then you wil choose Above Exp Moving Average 8 in the Exp Moving Average 3 vs Exp Moving Average 8 section of the Condition drop-down menu in the Create Scan Condition window.

If you only want to be notified when the 3EMA was under the 8EMA on a daily chart yesterday and the 3EMA is crossing up through the 8EMA on a 10 minute chart between the previous 10 minute bar and the current 10 minute bar, then you wil choose Crossing Up Exp Moving Average 8 in the Exp Moving Average 3 vs Exp Moving Average 8 section of the Condition drop-down menu in the Create Scan Condition window.

Once you have set up this condition as desired, select Scan in New Window to create a new EasyScan using the condition as the basis of the EasyScan.

Building a Scan with Multiple Conditions

Select the Edit tab of the EasyScan to make sure the time frame of the condition is set to 10-minute. You can click on the EasyScan Condition to bring up a window where you can change its time frame if necessary.

Now change the time frame of the chart to daily. Then click on the 3EMA and 8EMA in turn to set the Offset setting of both moving averages to 1 (this will make them display their values from the previous bar instead of the current bar).

Then click on the 3EMA and select Create Scan Condition. You will choose Below Exp Moving Average 8 in the Exp Moving Average 3 vs Exp Moving Average 8 section of the Condition drop-down menu in the Create Scan Condition window.

Once you have set up this condition as desired, select Add to an Existing WatchList or Scan and then choose Add to Conditions in the EasyScan you created earlier.

Select the Edit tab of the EasyScan to make sure the time frame of the condition is set to Daily. You can click on the EasyScan Condition to bring up a window where you can change its time frame if necessary.

One of the EasyScan Conditions should have a 10-minute time frame and the other EasyScan Condition should have a daily time frame. Adjust the List to Scan of the EasyScan as desired. You can save it to give the EasyScan a name if desired.

The EasyScan will return symbols in the List to Scan of the EasyScan which currently meet the requirements of all of its EasyScan Conditions.

Finally click on the 3EMA and 8EMA in turn to set the Offset setting of both moving averages to 0 so they display their current values again instead of the value for the previous bar. If you don't need the moving averages plotted on the chart, you could delete them instead.
