I have reviewed the Manual and the video, but I fing my version of SF different.  There is no longer a tab for rules.  I think I have found it using conditions.

When I drag the conditions to the BackScan, noting happens.

I am buing on crossover on MACD up and selling on MACD down.  Don't work.

Any thoughts on what I am missing #1, and #2, is there more up to date documentation available?

Thanks

If your BackScan is not working as expected, please select Help | Send Layout so technical support can take a look. Please include a description of the issue you are experiencing when sending the Layout to technical support.

Rules were the term used both for what is now called Conditions in StockFinder 5 and for BackScanner Rules in StockFinder 4. The Rules terminology is now only used for BackScanner Rules in StockFinder 5.

A Condition in StockFinder 5 is boolean (returns true or false) and is based on if the tested fundamentals or technicals meet the specified requirements.

Creating Conditions
Writing Conditions in RealCode

WatchList Columns, Scanning, Filtering, Paint Schemes, Market Indicators and Rules in BackScanner can all be based on Conditions.

Scanning with Conditions
Filtering Lists
Paint Schemes
Market Indicators from Conditions

The Rules terminology in StockFinder 5 only refers to components in BackScanner which specify if you should Buy, Sell, Sell Short, Buy Cover, Exit All, Remain Long, Remain Short or Remain In Trade when the requirements of the Rule are met on the Open, High, Low, Close or Midpoint of the specified bar.

All of the Rules in BackScanner with the exception of Trade-Based Rules are created by dragging and dropping Conditions into the Rules tab of BackScanner (which is accessed by selecting Rules along the left-hand side of the BackScanner window).

Most Rules use a Condition as the requirement which must be met, but Trade-Based Rules are based on the something related to the current trade itself instead.

While Conditions in StockFinder 5 used to be called Rules in StockFinder 4, BackScanner itself did not undergo the changes that were planned to happen in StockFinder 5 and remains almost exactly the same as in StockFinder 4.

These changes will probably never happen and new videos or documentation which reflects the name change from Rules to Conditions will probably never be made (all of the videos provided above do reflect these changes).

While I know you have indicated you have already reviewed them, the following video for BackScanner in StockFinder 4:

BackScanner Basics

And the information about BackScanner in the  StockFinder 4 User Manual are most likely going to remain the most recent available information about BackScanner. I am not aware of any other BackScanner specific documentation or videos at all (even earlier information).
