I am trying to produce a new personal criteria formula using the closing price and the difference of the 50 period expoential moving average. The problem is that it is telling me that I need 250 data points to do this. I would imagine that only 50 points would be correct.

You would be correct if the Moving Average were Simple. Exponential Moving Averages require 5-times the Moving Average Period points of data to calculate in Personal Criteria Formulas or Custom Indicators in TeleChart.
