Does anyone know if there's a way to request/pay for/ or access increased Daily Timeframe? Kind of frustrating to have a 200-day SMA that only extends back to mid-Feb 2016. Would be nice to have daily data that extended back 6, 8 or even 10 years.

Thanks for any help.

You can view daily data going back further than this in TC2000 v7, but there is no way to do so in TC2000 v17.

1. I'm on Version 17.0.6299.26492 ... Do I simply need to shift to the one you posted above?

2. I have daily data back to April 28, 2015. But the 200-day SMA obviously begins much later, aFeb 10, 2016. Please let me know if there's a setting on my end that needs to be changed in order to access increased daily data...it's making life difficult for back-testing.

Thanks.

You can install TC2000 v7 and use it to view older data and keep using TC2000 v17. You will most likely want to use TC2000 v17 when you do not need the older data as it has quite a few features and indicators not available in TC2000 v7.

It is not possible to increase the number of bars in TC2000 v17. Each time frame will have 500 bars available before the start of the trading day and add new bars as the trading day progresses if applicable (so a 1-minute time frame will have 890 bars of data at the end of the trading day).

The 200 bar moving average will not start until it has 200 bar available so it can calculate.

Interesting. Why was the decision made to "upgrade" the software program, but reduce the amount of data able to be reviewed? This seems like an choice...especially for folks trying to backtest ideas/programs.

TC2000 v7 runs entirely on your computer and the data is stored there. So the data is downloaded to your comuter only once.

TC2000 v17 runs both on your computer and on our servers with the data stored on our servers. So the data is downloaded to your computer every time you view a symbol.

That a bummer to say the least. Nonetheless, do I need to do anything special to download the prior version, but not lose the settings on my current one?

The programs are completely separate. You can import settings from TC2000 v7 into TC2000 v17, but not the other way around.

There is no reason to uninstall TC2000 v17. The only reason really to use TC2000 v7 is to view the older data.

OK, thanks for the help. Any idea if there are plans to increase the viewable data on the newer version?

I do not know when or if the number of bars available in TC2000 v17 might be increased.

Well, for any TC 2000 admins or developers lurking in the shadows ... TC is a very nice product, but limiting the amount of data is, well, very 1999. I started as a SOES bandit like many others. And since that time, I can't think of too many professional charting/data packages that provided such limited data...and survived.

Again, you've got a great product. I only wish I understood who sitting around the "big table" thought it would be a good idea to limit the amount of data one can backtest with.

**I do appreciate the workaround Bruce provided me with. But like even he said, there's a ton NOT provided in Version 7 that is (and I use!) in the newest version. In a nutshell, having extended data, but without the features I subscribe to TC for today...is essentially worthless.

I hope someone at the table has actually traded (their own money...not OPM) and can stress the important of having more than 500 bars of available data to backtest on. Markets, and traders' needs change exponentially faster now than they did in 1999, 2005 or even 2010. I hope you're able to recognize that and respond accordingly.
