You have to use Internet Explorer as your browswer to view the videos. If you ARE using IE, then make sure you have the latest version of the Flash player installed http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/.

If you're using the new Mozilla Firefox Browser, follow this link for a workaround:

Doug,

Great tutorial. I've been looking for an ADX method to sort for Straddle candidates. Your sorts are a good tool. When the student is ready the teacher appears.

Thank you,

Terry

chandru:

Much has been written in the forums on the topic of DI line crosses. Start your review of this information by clicking on this link:

PCFs for ADX's +DI and -DI

It will also lead you to other links, and you can also do a search of the forums on +DI, and you'll find additional links where this has been discussed.

To Doug H
I watched your Identifying Sectors gaining strength over the past few months. and it is great.
Some videos such as that play very well others do not.
I have tried several times to watch your Sorting by ADX indicator and whenever the bar gets to "Make sure you are in decending order with the arrow pointing down" the video stops. The black line in the bar where the traveling square indicates where you are in the video stops at this point and the video stops.

Some videos play ok others do not. I would love to watch this video and also would love to know if I can sort by +DI and -DI or only by ADX. Being able to sort by the +DI adn -DI would be great.
Please let me know what I can do to watch all of the videos completely. I tried watching the video explaing ADX and got all of the audio but none of the video. I am confused. Help Please. Is it possible that if I cannot watch the videos at this site to get a CD of the particular tutorial?
Thanks

Have you downloaded the most recent copy of the player (link is below the video)?

When you load the video does the bar that shows the progress turn completely black (meaning the whole thing is loaded in memory)? What type of connection do you have?

Video plays fine here and it may take the great group at tech support to figure out why you are not getting consistant responses from the videos.

I would reload the player first and see if that takes care of it.

Hi Craig
Thanks for your reply. I downloaded Media Player again and The sorting by ADX video played just fine.
Part of my problems are caused by using a modem connection and not DSL or Cable. I can overcome this by letting the black bar advance to the end then playing the video. This way fully loaded works fine. The Sorting by ADX is dynamite. Just loaded with great ideas. I am still having trouble with a couple of videos. Greater detail and perspectives with zoom levels and time frames does not load at all and the video which gives the description of ADX loads the audio completely but no video.

Glad you enjoyed the ADX Sort video. If you continue to have trouble with a few of the other videos, you may want to contact the technical support staff to see if they can help you. The can be reached via email at support@worden.com or by phone at (919)408-0542.

Hi Doug.
I watched the "Sorting by the ADX Indicator" and then reproduced it on my chart. There are two sorts, and I have some problems with the second sort, where, after you create a new watchlist with values of ADX betwween 20 and 25, sort this WL by "net change" over the 5 day period. When the ADX value 5 days ago was <20 it works fine. However when the value of ADX was say at 30 5 days ago, the sort becomes meaningless because the change is negative and both are above 20. Am I missing anything here? I like ADX and like this sort, but I don't understand this. Could you tell me if I made a mistake? Thanks Doug! MDiep

Your watchlist includes only stocks that currently have ADX from 20-25. You sort them by visual change, and focus on the ones that return a positive visual change value. These are stocks that have risen over the past 5 days to their current level of 20-25.

If you're seeing a stock that had ADX at 30 5 days ago and is now somewhere between 20-25, the ADX on that stock went down during the five days...and this stock would have returned a visual change value that was negative.

Only look at stocks where the visual change value is positive, and you'll have what you want!

OK Doug, I got it. I used a watchlist where most stocks went down and did not look all the way to the bottom of the list. Thanks for the video and for your prompt response.

You're welcome. I could tell you had done things correctly but that you were just looking at the wrong end of the list after your second sort. Glad to know everything's working well for you now.

Both ADX videos are still listed on the main video list. We never remove videos from that list. The ADX sort video is in the window above, and if you look on the list of videos, the regular ADX video is titled: Average Directional Index (ADX).

Keep in mind that the list is ordered by the date of the last comment. This video is now first in the list because of our recent comments.

Hi,

After watching the video I was able to sort the ADX. The stocks are ranked correctly by their ADX values from high to low with no sort value numbers. How do I plot the sort value?

Thanks

Make sure your watchlist tab has the column called Sort Value. This video may help you:

Hi Doug,
The video does not say how to create the colum "sort value". I create a column for ADX but it is showing no numbers. It must be something very simple that I am missing. Please help. Thanks

htp1,
When adding or editing a Watchlist Column, just scroll to the top of the Column Contents dropdown. At least in my copy of the program, Sort Value is the first Criteria listed.

Unless you changed things, your WatchList tab #1 should already have SYMBOL | COMPANY NAME | SORT RANK/VALUE

A lot has been written about this in the forums. You'll want to do a search of the forums...search on +DI or -DI or ADX, and then start reading the stuff you find there.

Informative, clear and focused. I don't know how I missed the flag between here and active symbol, but that will be very helpful as I continue learning. Good stuff.
