Hello.
What's the condition for "close crossing below 3 x ATR1 is true"? My attempts to do this simple check are not giving an expected result. Thank you very much.

I don't know what the expected result might be on your part, but such a formula is almost never going to be true for any sort of major stock that isn't in some sort serious distress to the point of possible delisting.
This would represent very extreme volatility. You might find a few symbols in say the US Common Stocks WatchList, but you would probably have more luck getting hits when scanning penny stocks.
Range (and true range) of most stocks is quite small as a percentage of the price of that same stock.
What might make more sense would be to check for the close crossing below a max high over some period minus three times average true range or an average price over some period minus three times average true range.

Hi, Bruce. Thanks. Yes, the last paragraph you wrote was essentially what I'm trying to do. I have been using H > MAXH49.1 for the period.

Then maybe the following?
C < MAXH49.1 - 3 * ATR1
Or possibly the following?
C < MAXH50 - 3 * ATR1

Hi, Bruce. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but these work well and with some adjustment of the percent do what's needed. Thank you very much for the help.
