Hello,

Craig posted on july 6, 2007 the formula to calculate the length of wicks. (ABS(C>=O)*(H-C))+

(ABS(C<O)*(H-O))

Is there a way to calculate the average wick length over a certain number of days, say 50?

Note that the formula given is specifically for the upper wicks. The easist way to calculate the average would be to use the formula as the Formula in a Custom PCF Indicator.

You can then set the Period and Average Type of the Custom PCF Indicator as desired. For example, if you wanted a 50-period simple moving average, set the Period to 50 and the Average Type to Simple.

Thanks Bruce,

Didn't think of that. Works great.

Bruce,

How about the PERCENTAGE of the body relative to the whole bar over, say 30 days? Trying to sort or scan for stocks that tend to wick less.

ABS((O-C)/(H-L))*100 is all I have at this point.

Thanks

Your formula is just fine for a single bar. So you could do something similar to what I recommended for tamia and use it as the Formula in a Custom PCF Indicator. Then set the Period of the Custom PC Indicator to 30.
