Hi Bruce,

I'm trying to help out that friend I converted to TC2000 from another charting platform. She likes to trade something she calls a "Sweet Spot". It's actually a subset of a larger pattern she calls a "Squeeze" but that's another story.

Here's her criteria. What's the easiest best/way to scan for these criteria these days? There are probably several options ...

Bullish

  • PPO cross up, and
  • +DI has crossed up and is above ADX, and
  • ADX just starting to rise

Bearish

  • PPO cross down, and
  • -DI crossed up and is above the ADX, and
  • ADX is just starting to rise

Those are her specs. She's an eyeballer, not a scanner, so parts aren't too specific.

I'm thinking the PPO cross and +DI/-DI above the ADX should be easy. The ADX "just starting to rise" may be a little more problematic. My first thought was to use either the x bars ago, within last x bars, and/or x bars ago features and fine tune the settings to her preferences.

I'm thinking this can all be done w/o PCFs. Any thoughts?

I would just add the indicators to the chart, adjust the settings as desired and select Create Condition. Then add all of the conditions to the same scan.

As far as the just starting to rise or just starting to fall, you can add a 2-period exponential moving average to the ADX and check for it to be crossing up through or crossing down through the moving average (there are other ways to do this, but this method is simple and effective).

Thanks, Bruce!

Is there much difference between using a 2-period MA versus using a 1-period MA offset by 1? Just curious. Suppose I could just try both and see for myself.

(Sorry, I'm getting LAZY. lol).

Either should work. The 1 period offset by one might actually be better.
