Hi Bruce
hope u doing well , could please interpret this below formulas for me .. as i must have listed them incorrect in wordings so just want to understand them for support and resistance and what does the plotting style number of dots going horizontally imply ?

thanks
Dhiren

The first formula plots the value of the most recent pivot low (a low with two lower lows on both sides) and the second formula plots the value of the most recent pivot high (a high with two lower highs on both sides).

No Bruce i got that part but count of the dots plotting to the right of most recent pivot high or low what does that signify ??  as the dots on some high or lows are more in count and some have less in count so thats what i wanted to know ??

The number of dots after a pivot high is just going to be how many bars until it detects the next pivot high (or the formulas lookback of 63 bars ago is exceeded).

Okay Until it detects the next pivot high " thats what i was missing... thanks

So now my last question is how can we make this pcf in form of histogram where it appears like macd or awesome oscillator idea.. when the following happens

1) If pivot high dots stays active then the histogram should stay below ZERO LINE and

2) If Pivot low  dots stays active then the histogram should stay above zero line

And i m using simple moving average with 1 period and off set of -3 so that it detects exact  most recent pivot high and pivot lows

Both the pivot high and pivot low will keep plotting dots for up to 60 bars after the detection (so the high or low needs to be within 63 bars). So both can be "active" at the same time. Do you want to plot the histogram based on which was detected most recently?

IIF(TrueInRow(MAXH3 >= H3 OR H3 <= MAXH3.4, 60) < TrueInRow(MINL3 <= L3 OR L3 >= MINL3.4, 60), 1, IIF(TrueInRow(MINL3 <= L3 OR L3 >= MINL3.4, 60) < 60, -1, 0))

You would have to add an offset 1 period moving average to this to shift it as well if you want it to line up.

Hmm Bruce the main idea what I was trying to achieve is when Most recent Pivot high is detected then the previous Pivot high should obviously stop plotting dots and same for pivot low when detected then the previos pivot low should stop plotting

Now taking example of "HRS on daily chart

the trend price is down so it started plotting dots on Pivot high from April 27,2018 and of i use moving average 1 period and off set -3 it will plot exact at April 24,2018

So in the histogram below i want that to plot below the ZERO LINE until it detects the new Pivot Low and that will PLOT on Histogram as Above Zero Line

hope it helps

The pivot high formula only plots dots for the most recent pivot high. It keeps plotting those dots until there is a new pivot high (or too many bars have passed). It has no way to detect the previous pivot high (or any pivot lows) at all.

The pivot low formula only plots dots for the most recent pivot low. It keeps plotting those dots until there is a new pivot high (or too many bars have passed). It has no way to detect the previous pivot low (or any pivot highs) at all.

So did you try the formula given in my Wednesday, May 02, 2018 10:09:37 AM ET post? Was it just upside down? If so, you can just swap the 1 and -1 in the formula.

IIF(TrueInRow(MAXH3 >= H3 OR H3 <= MAXH3.4, 60) < TrueInRow(MINL3 <= L3 OR L3 >= MINL3.4, 60), -1, IIF(TrueInRow(MINL3 <= L3 OR L3 >= MINL3.4, 60) < 60, 1, 0))

Hello Bruce, I am having trouble coding the inverse of these conditions. Any help is appreciated.. (ABS(C - O) = (H - L) * .01 AND (O - L > (H - L) * .7 OR C - L > (H - L) * .7)) OR(ABS(C - O) = (H - L) * .01 AND O - L > (H - L) * .7 AND C - L > (H - L) * .7) OR (((H-L)>3*(O-C)AND((C-L)/(.001+H-L)>0.6)AND((O-L)/(.001+H-L)>0.6))) OR (H - O L) Thanks, Dave

I think I can shorten what you have somewhat.

((H - L) * .3 >= ABS(C - O) AND ABS(C - O) >= (H - L) * .01 AND O - L > (H - L) * .7 AND C - L > (H - L) * .7) OR (H - L > 3 * (O - C) AND C - L > .6 * (H - L) AND O - L > .6 * (H - L)) OR (H - L >= 3 * (H - O) AND H - L >= 3 * (H - C) AND H > L)

I think inverting the shorter version results in the following.

((H - L) * .3 >= ABS(C - O) AND ABS(C - O) >= (H - L) * .01 AND H - O > (H - L) * .7 AND H - C > (H - L) * .7) OR (H - L > 3 * (C - O) AND H - C > .6 * (H - L) AND H - O > .6 * (H - L)) OR (H - L >= 3 * (O - L) AND H - L >= 3 * (C - L) AND H > L)
