I just noticed a watch list column titled Research Notes. Would like to know how it is to be used.

Thanks

b, any way you want!!

Like My NotesResearch Notes gives you up to 300 characters to enter anything you want. It's your money - just because it is called "Research Notes" doesn't limit you in any way. Besides, like any watchlist column, you can edit the header - call it Grocery List if you want.

And How do I put text in that column? I assume its easy, but not intuitively obvious to me :-(

Can I have more than one such column? It appears to be so. Do I need to title them differently?

b, I honestly don't know. I've seen the My Notes column but never used it myself. I wasn't even aware of Research Notes until you mentioned it (I learn something new in the forum every day.).

After I'm done flirting with the Barista, I'll experiment.

Play with it. You won't break anything! :)

Barista, another round!

b, here you go. A quick forum search on 'Research Notes' turned up the following...

QUOTE (Bruce_L)

The My Notes and Research Notes WatchList Columns will display the date of the most recent personal or third party note in the respective WatchList Column.

So it sounds likes My Notes is your personal playground, and Research Notes is reserved for third party notes.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I already put up the Bat Signal in the ask-a-trainer forum. Bruce should be here soon.

My quote about the My Notes and Research Notes WatchList Columns referenced by UnclePennybags used to be correct. My Notes was for your own Personal Notes and third party notes showed up under Research Notes.

This is no longer the case however and Research Notes is no longer used. It is being looked at for removal from TC2000.

Thanks for the update, Bruce!!

Like I said, b, never believe anything I say. :)

Sounds like Research Notes has been deprecated.

Bruce, is there any way to use a watch list column to put a letter in it to designate which borkerage account the stock or etf is in?  I have a few accounts and that would be easier to organize than setting up individual watch lists.

The only WatchList Columns into which you can place arbitrary values are numeric or date and might be something you already use. The Tracking Date, Tracking Price and Tracking Shares values can be set by you manually for each Personal WatchList (they aren't available in System WatchLists).
