You really can't do it easily by clicking on the indicators. It is generally easiest to do this using formulas.

To that end, I have recently started pinning two panes with Custom PCF % True Indicators in them to the left side of the TTM Squeeze chart (but not the TTM Squeeze v16 chart).

The one that mentions Up and Down has formulas in it with descriptive names designed for common things you might want to check related to the Momentum indicator.

The one that mentions On and Off has formulas in it with descriptive names designed for common things you might want to check related to the Squeeze itself.

You can edit the indicators to view and/or copy the formulas for use elsewhere. You can also click on these indicators and select Create Condition to create conditions for these indicators being greater than 0 to check if the indicator is true or not.

Could you send me theTTM Indicator workspace so I could see the two panes you have pinned?I'm curious to see what you have done.

Thanks

Thanks Bruce.

I have 66% of your pinned indicators figured out

Squeeze On & Off,

Momentum > 0 and < 0 with cross overs

but I'm having a brain cramp with the last four, one of which is is labelled "Up" and whose PCF is:

13 * (C - ((MAXH20 + MINL20) / 2 + XAVGC20) / 2) + 6 * (C20 - ((MAXH20.20 + MINL20.20) / 2 + XAVGC20.20) / 2) > 19 * (AVGC19.1 - ((AVG(MAXH20.1,19) + AVG(MINL20.1,19)) / 2 + XAVG(AVGC19.1,20)) / 2)

Would you please jog my memory as to what this set of four is reporting?

They just refer to the direction the momentum indicator is going. Up means the value has increased from the previous bar and down beans the value has decreased from the previous bar.

Bruce.  can you please send this to me also.   Additionally, how can i get columns that show when the squeeze fires for different time frames.   Also, is there a way to have a column in a watchlist that counts how long the squeeze has been underway?

You can use the following as a WatchList Column to check for squeeze on.

STDDEV20 * 4 <= 3 * ATR20

The following to check for squeeze off.

STDDEV20 * 4 > 3 * ATR20

The following to check for changing from squeeze off to squeeze on.

TrueInRow(STDDEV20 * 4 <= 3 * ATR20, 2) = 1

The following to check for changing from squeeze on to squeeze off.

TrueInRow(STDDEV20 * 4 > 3 * ATR20, 2) = 1

How long the squeeze is on is just:

TrueInRow(STDDEV20 * 4 <= 3 * ATR20, 63)

How long the squeeze is off is just:

TrueInRow(STDDEV20 * 4 > 3 * ATR20, 63)

You can change the time frame of the WatchList Column as desired. The formulas will be the same.

Got it. Thank you very much, Bruce.

Question: I've read through this 2017 thread, and I'm not sure whether the calculations you've created replace the calculations in the thread "TTM squeeze revisited" from 2013. I'm mainly wondering whether the chart that GapMeister set up in that thread (beginning with his post Monday, November 25, 2013 1:34:40 PM and continuing for 3 posts) is still valid.

In that post he says: "The TTM Squeeze is simply a 20 period 2.0 Deviation Bollinger Band with a 20 period 1.5 ATR Ketlner Band overlaid on the BBand." He then describes how to interpret it (with a correction later).

Web searches seem to confirm this, but there is some conflicting information out there.

My question is: if I set up a chart like GapMeister's, would it be valid, or is that information obsolete?

It would be true if you were to plot the widths of both simple Bollinger Bands 20, 2.00 and simple Keltner Channels 20, 1.50 on the chart.

It isn't just checking for the Bollinger Bands to be inside the Keltner Channels because the centerline of the Bollinger Bands is based on a moving average of closing prices while the centerline of Keltner Channels is based on a moving average of typical price = (H + L + C) / 3.

The discussions in the TTM squeeze revisited topic are about the exact setup in this topic.
