Hi Bruce,

Would it be possible to post the PCF formaula for a Tillson T3 MA using 7 bars and a V-Factor of 1.414 (versus the default 0.7)?

Also, when I paste the PCF code into a new Indicator and name it, it still shows up on the chart (without the name) but with the first line of code. Am I missing something for re-naming it?

I can write it, but I think the volume factor needs to be between 0 and 1 in order for the resulting indicator to actually make sense. It isn't going to actually scale with price when the volume factor is greater than 1.

Thanks Bruce - when I plot this on NinjaTrader with a V-Factor of 1.414 or 1.618 the overshoot of the T3 increases, but it beomes more sensitive with respect to critical crosses with the underlying price.

Did you code the PCF above with 1.414 or with 1.000?

Yes - It looks exactlt like the one I had previously been using with NT v7. Thank you very much. The choice of MA types in the T3 paramter field is interesting - I thought it was only composed of EMA's?

When I plot this indicator, I am again not getting the name I entered (under NEW: Indicator PCF Formula), but something that looks like the first line of code. This is only when I plot the T3 on a chart.

Any idea how I can get rid of this label and have it use a given/saved indicator name, like T3-7-1414?

If you edit the Custom PCF Indicator on the chart there should be a Label setting which can be changed to T3-7-1414 if that is what you want displayed on the chart instead of the formula.

Yes, once you plot it on the chart, edit the indicator and type the name you want into the Label field.  Then save it to the library again.

Hi Bruce,

On 6/23 you gave me the code for a 7 bar T3 Tillson MA with a factor of 1.414 which works really well for me in that form.

In order to establish T3 crosses, I would require the same T3 movong average, however, with a 5 bar length and the same factor of 1.414. I would really appreciate it if you could code that for me.

(It would be great to have a Tillson MA and/or a T3 Fulks-Matulich MA in the software which has user selectable parameters... The T3FM is even more sensitive, similar to using half the Tillson period length, but much overshoot).

Secondly, I wanted to ask you if there is any way to have a moving average envelope indicator, e.g. consisting of a simple 79 period MA and a 89 period EMA? Right now I am plotting them separately, but enevelopes are visually better for support/resistance zones.

I am not quite sure how you want to combine the 79 and 89 period moving averages into an envelope channel. They are just moving averages and can cross through each other.

I guess you could plot two Envelope Channel indicators on the chart with the Period set to 79 for one and to 89 for the other, but I doubt that is what you mean.

Thanks very much for the 7 - period T3 MA.

Re the MA envelope - that would actually suffice because I just want to make it more visually appealing on the chart. But I'm not sure how to access the Envelope indicator??

Hi Bruce - now I see what you mean about the envelope channel indicator.

If it were possible to select two different types of MA's and two different length parameters per envelope, that would be exactly what I was looking for. If I plot two envlope channels and narow the spread, I basically have two "fat" MA's which are thicker, but not one envelope. Like you mentioned, it should twist and the MA's should change the envelope's slope visually.

The user defianble envelope isn't commonplace unfortunately, neither with Ninja. Do you thiank it would be feasable to program - not on the forum - but in a separate session with a consultant?

Sorry to be a bother with this, but I just triend to create a condition where:

T3-5-1414 crosses T3-7-1414 Up [on the current day]

T3-5-1414 < T3-7-1414 [one day before]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

I have named the new T3 indicators T3-5 and T3-7-1.414 and tried to write the

condition like this:

(T3-5>T3-7-1.414)AND
(T3-5.1<T3-7-1.414.1)
 
but am getting an error message.
 
I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how to formulate this condition.

I was a little too quick in sending off that last post re the T3 scan.

It's okay the way I formulated it, but it would be much more flexiable for the esayscan to find

the T3-5-1414 crossing the T3-7-1414 up during the last 3 days (for example).

To combine the moving averages you could add a Custom PCF Channel Indicator with the Indicator Line Formula set to:

(AVGC79 + AVGC89) / 2

But I'm not sure what you would want to use for the Channel Width Formula.

You could then click on and select Create Scan Condition to create a condition for the value of the Custom PCF Indicator being greater than 0.

Add a Donchian Channel to this with the Offset set to 1 and the Period set to 3 (if you want to check for the cross up happening within the last 3 bars).

You will want to click on the Donchain Channel and select Create Scan Condition to create a condition for the Chan Bottom being Less Than 0.

Add both conditions to the same EasyScan.

Thanks VERY much, Bruce, The idea of using the Donchian Channels is pretty clever, and works well. I wouldn't have been able to come up with that myself, much less the T3 code.

Just a small issue: the T3's are notorious with overshoot, so they will cross quite far above or below the price. Is there an eay way of changing the price axis on the charts manually, i.e. zooming out, so that I can see the T3 crosses? Right now with the log setting, quite a few are not within the price pane.

You can manually adjust the projection space.

How to create projection space on your chart

But you may be better off to uncheck Calculate scale from price only if it is checked.

Right-click on the chart and select Edit Chart Properties. Then choose the Price Style tab where you will find this option.

Hi Bruce,

I have the two T3 moning averages you coded recently (T3 5 period x1.414 & T3 7 period x1.414), and would like to use these in a condition which should define:

The T3-5-1.414 crossed the T3-7-1.414 Up within the last 3 days;

Conversely, i would also like to have a condition for the opposite case, whereby the T3-5-1.414 crosses the T3-7-1.414 Down within the last 3 days.

I tried this, but am sure that it is not correct (as I get no hits even with large universes);

Remember the T3.1414 based MACD 5,7 from my Tuesday, August 09, 2016 10:48:39 AM ET post?

If you are going to be looking at a large number of days, you would want to use something like it because any formula you would create for multiple days is going to be way too long and slow to be practical.

Your example seems to be testing specifically for above during the most recent 2 days and below during the previous 2 days.

We can add Donchian Channels to this as before. One with a Period of 2 and an Offset of 0 and another with a Period of 2 and an Offset of 2.

Then you wuld check for the lower offset 0 Donchian Channel to be Greater Than 0 and the upper offset 2 Donchian Channel to be Less Than 0.

You can use upper offset 0 Donchian Channel being Less Than 0 and lower offset 2 Donchian Channel being Greater Than 0 for the reverse.

I had previously made a mistake in using only one set of Donchian channels - and it didn't work.

Now I used two sets the way you described and it works well.

If it would not take up much time on your end, would it be possible for you to give me the code for the following two other T3 moving averages:

- T3 with 13 periods and factor of 1.272

- T3 with 36 periods and factor of 1.272

I want to use these in scans whereby in one case the T3-36 must be above the T3-13. Not sure how to stipulate this.

An Indicator Formula for T3 with 36 periods and factor of 1.272 is too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums.

Hi Bruce,

I included your last code for the T3-13-1.272 into a PCF for plotting this indicator. When I go to edit this indicator, presumably I shouldn't change the Period = 1 (default) to 13?, and also leave the average type set at simple...

I just thought of something in lieu of using the T3-36: 

Seeing as the coding of a T3-36-1.272 is not feasable, I would like to be able to specify this general (static) condition in an Easyscan:

T3-13-1.272 is below the EMA(13)

but am not sure how to do this? [T3-13-1.272 < XAVGC13] doesn't seem right to me...

Is there an easy way to do this?

Your assumptions about how to plot the PCF as a Custom PCF Indicator are correct (although the Average Type doesn't matter if the Period is set to 1).

The formula for T3-13-1.272 being below a regular EMA(13) is just what you would expect however. You would add a < XAVGC13 to the end of the formula for T3-13-1.272.

Hi Bruce,

A while back you coded am T3 based MACD for me which was based of T3-5 and T3-7 averages.

I wonder whether you could modify this for me so that I could have an MACD based on T3-13-1.272 and T3-26-1.272, and then plot a T3-9-1.272 on that?

If a T3 based MACD with T3 averages of 13 and 26 would be too long or slow, I think it would be feasable to us a T3-6-1.272 & T3-13-1.272 nased MACD.

The T3-26-1.272 is also too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums.

Plotting a T3 based moving average on the T3 MACD probably isn't going to happen and neither is a T3 MACD histogram (but you can add any of the built in moving averages to a plotted MACD).

Is there an easy way of changing the color of this M.A. according to whether its (2 bar) slope is positive or negative, or perhaps adding a symbol/dot if color change is difficult?

You could use something like the following as a Custom PCF % True Indicator, but the formulas to actually color the T3 itself by plotting the T3 using the Dot Plot Style are too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums.

Note that this doesn't use nearly as much data as the actual plot in order to keep the formulas short and fast enough to be practical or post in the forums. This means it may not actually agree with the plotted indicator (and the plotted indicator would be more accurate).

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the help with the slope issue of the T3-13-0.618.

It seems to work OK and I am overlaying the T3, but not scaling the same.

I am wondering how to write a simple Easyscan using this Custom PCF% True Indicator for:

- Slpe was 0 one day ago

- Slope is 100 today

The formula in my Monday, September 26, 2016 3:51:14 PM ET post is just a Condition Formula. The basic way to plot a colored dot as a value on the chart using a Custom PCF Indicator would use something like the following for the Formula with the Plot Style set to Dot.

(Monday, September 26, 2016 12:53:55 PM ET Indicator Formula) / ABS(Monday, September 26, 2016 3:51:14 PM ET Condition Formula)

To restate that slightly. Put the Indicator Formula for the value where you want to plot the dot inside parentheses and divide it by the the Condition Formula inside an ABS() function and use the resulting Indicator Formula as the Formula in a Custom PCF Indicator with the Plot Style set to Dot.

The formula given in my Monday, September 26, 2016 3:51:14 PM ET post is a Condition Formula, so you just need to save it as a Condition Formula. Then you can add it to an EasyScan use the name you used to save the Condition Formula.

You would plot the above as a Custom PCF Indicator. Not that it would be much easier and much better to just add a 2-period Rate of Change (without %) to the chart and change the Data Source to use T3 indicator of interest (the precision would be better for one thing).

Hi Brce,

I wanted to scan for stocks which has been below the EMA89 by not more than 3% (from T-3 to T-1) and are now (at T) above the EMA89, but less than 3% above it.

I woul appreciate it if you ouldhelp me out here. Many thanks.
