I assume you are looking at an RSI on your chart. Edit it and tell me if its checked or not.

Craig,

I do not want to use it on a chart but I would like to use it as a PCF to scan my wathing list and get the RSI for the different time frame.

Do you not want to confirm your results with a plotted RSI? If so, will you use Wilder Smoothing on the chart? There is a big difference between an RSI with our without this smoothing. Does the smoothing matter to you?

Do you understand what Wilder's Relative Strength Indicator does and what it reveals about the underlying stock? Why a period of 7?

I want to be sure the formula we create is finding the types of stocks you want.

Craig,

thanks for you quick replays.

Maybe I understand what you mean. Yes I woul like to have confirmation of my results on a chart so it is better to use the Wilder Smoothing.

I do not knkow what it is for but I will have a look.

I use a period of 7 because Bill Cara on his web site suggests to use it. He is using the Wilder Smoothing too.

Thanks,

GP

Gian64,
The following formulas are designed to match a chart with the following Wilder's RSI Settings:

Period: 7
Use Wilders Smoothing: Checked
Avg Period: 1
Average Type: Doesn't matter (because the Avg Period is 1)

Daily:

100 * ((C > C1) * (C1 - C) + 6 / 7 * ((C1 > C2) * (C2 - C1) + 6 / 7 * ((C2 > C3) * (C3 - C2) + 6 / 7 * ((C3 > C4) * (C4 - C3) + 6 / 7 * ((C4 > C5) * (C5 - C4) + 6 / 7 * ((C5 > C6) * (C6 - C5) + 6 / 7 * ((C6 > C7) * (C7 - C6) + 6 / 7 * ((C7 > C8) * (C8 - C7) + 6 / 7 * ((C8 > C9) * (C9 - C8) + 6 / 7 * ((C9 > C10) * (C10 - C9) + 6 / 7 * ((C10 > C11) * (C11 - C10) + 6 / 7 * ((C11 > C12) * (C12 - C11) + 6 / 7 * ((C12 > C13) * (C13 - C12) + 6 / 7 * ((C13 > C14) * (C14 - C13) + 6 / 7 * ((C14 > C15) * (C15 - C14) + 6 / 7 * ((C15 > C16) * (C16 - C15) + 6 / 7 * ((C16 > C17) * (C17 - C16) + 6 / 7 * ((C17 > C18) * (C18 - C17) + 6 / 7 * ((C18 > C19) * (C19 - C18) + 6 / 7 * ((C19 > C20) * (C20 - C19) + 6 / 7 * ((C20 > C21) * (C21 - C20) + 6 / 7 * ((C21 > C22) * (C22 - C21) + 6 / 7 * ((C22 > C23) * (C23 - C22) + 6 / 7 * ((C23 > C24) * (C24 - C23) + 6 / 7 * ((C24 > C25) * (C25 - C24) + 6 / 7 * ((C25 > C26) * (C26 - C25) + 6 / 7 * ((C26 > C27) * (C27 - C26) + 6 / 7 * ((C27 > C28) * (C28 - C27) + 6 / 7 * ((C28 > C29) * (C29 - C28) + 6 / 7 * ((C29 > C30) * (C30 - C29) + 6 / 7 * ((C30 > C31) * (C31 - C30) + 6 / 7 * ((C31 > C32) * (C32 - C31) + 6 / 7 * ((C32 > C33) * (C33 - C32) + 6 / 7 * ((C33 > C34) * (C34 - C33) + 6 / 7 * ((C34 > C35) * (C35 - C34) + 6 / 7 * ((C35 > C36) * (C36 - C35) + 6 / 7 * ((C36 > C37) * (C37 - C36) + 6 / 7 * ((C37 > C38) * (C38 - C37) + 6 / 7 * ((C38 > C39) * (C39 - C38) + 6 / 7 * ((C39 > C40) * (C40 - C39) + 6 / 7 * ((C40 > C41) * (C41 - C40) + 6 / 7 * ((C41 > C42) * (C42 - C41) + 6 / 7 * ((C42 > C43) * (C43 - C42) + 6 / 7 * ((C43 > C44) * (C44 - C43) + 6 / 7 * ((C44 > C45) * (C45 - C44) + 6 / 7 * ((C45 > C46) * (C46 - C45) + 6 / 7 * ((C46 > C47) * (C47 - C46) + 6 / 7 * ((C47 > C48) * (C48 - C47) + 6 / 7 * ((C48 > C49) * (C49 - C48) + 6 / 7 * ((C49 > C50) * (C50 - C49) + 6 / 7 * ((C50 > C51) * (C51 - C50) + 6 / 7 * ((C51 > C52) * (C52 - C51) + 6 / 7 * ((C52 > C53) * (C53 - C52) + 6 / 7 * ((C53 > C54) * (C54 - C53) + 6 / 7 * ((C54 > C55) * (C55 - C54) + 6 / 7 * ((C55 > C56) * (C56 - C55) + 6 / 7 * ((C56 > C57) * (C57 - C56) + 6 / 7 * ((C57 > C58) * (C58 - C57) + 6 / 7 * ((C58 > C59) * (C59 - C58) + 6 / 7 * ((C59 > C60) * (C60 - C59))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) / (ABS(C - C1) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C13 - C14) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C14 - C15) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C15 - C16) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C16 - C17) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C17 - C18) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C18 - C19) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C19 - C20) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C20 - C21) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C21 - C22) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C22 - C23) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C23 - C24) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C24 - C25) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C25 - C26) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C26 - C27) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C27 - C28) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C28 - C29) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C29 - C30) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C30 - C31) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C31 - C32) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C32 - C33) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C33 - C34) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C34 - C35) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C35 - C36) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C36 - C37) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C37 - C38) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C38 - C39) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C39 - C40) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C40 - C41) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C41 - C42) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C42 - C43) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C43 - C44) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C44 - C45) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C45 - C46) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C46 - C47) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C47 - C48) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C48 - C49) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C49 - C50) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C50 - C51) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C51 - C52) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C52 - C53) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C53 - C54) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C54 - C55) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C55 - C56) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C56 - C57) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C57 - C58) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C58 - C59) + 6 / 7 * (ABS(C59 - C60)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hi Bruce,

I move to TC2000 1.2 and I am enjoyiing it very much. It is very nice.

I need your help as I have would like to create a weekly indicator that is green when bar histogram of the MACD(12,26,9) of this week is greater of the previous week.

Thanks,

Giancarlo

You could create a Custom PCF % True indicator which spikes when the Exponential MACD Histogram 12,26,9 increases:

XAVGC12 - XAVGC26 - XAVG(XAVGC12,9) + XAVG(XAVGC26,9) > XAVGC12.1 - XAVGC26.1 - XAVG(XAVGC12.1,9) + XAVG(XAVGC26.1,9)

But I do not know of a way to make an indicator turn green based on when the MACD Histogram increases.

.... another question. How do you write RSI (of 2 days period) is less than 10 and RSI (of 2 days period) of yesterday is also less than 10 in TC2000 1.2?Thanks,Giancarlo

If you are using the regular RSI, you could use the following Condition Formula with the Time Frame set to 2-Day (you can set the Time Frame when the formula is created or edited):

RSI2 < 10 AND RSI2.1.1 < 10

If you are using RSI - Wilder's, you could use the following Condition Formula instead:

50 * (C - XAVGC3.1) / 2 / (.500030519440884 * (ABS(C - C1) + .5 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + .5 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + .5 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + .5 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + .5 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + .5 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + .5 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + .5 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + .5 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + .5 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + .5 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + .5 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + .5 * (ABS(C13 - C14)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 10 AND 50 * (C1 - XAVGC3.2) / 2 / (.500030519440884 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + .5 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + .5 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + .5 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + .5 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + .5 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + .5 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + .5 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + .5 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + .5 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + .5 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + .5 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + .5 * (ABS(C13 - C14) + .5 * (ABS(C14 - C15)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 10

You probably want:

O < .95 * C1

Hi Bruce,

I would like to create a condition using wilder rsi 2-days. I to use the formula you gave me some years ago:

50 * (C - XAVGC3.1) / 2 / (.500030519440884 * (ABS(C - C1) + .5 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + .5 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + .5 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + .5 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + .5 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + .5 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + .5 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + .5 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + .5 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + .5 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + .5 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + .5 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + .5 * (ABS(C13 - C14)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 10 AND 50 * (C1 - XAVGC3.2) / 2 / (.500030519440884 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + .5 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + .5 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + .5 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + .5 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + .5 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + .5 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + .5 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + .5 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + .5 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + .5 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + .5 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + .5 * (ABS(C13 - C14) + .5 * (ABS(C14 - C15)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 10

but i receive an error message: "Argument missing near *".

Could you help me please?

Thanks,

Giancarlo

I suspect the issue is with your computer having the decimal marker set to use the , instead of being set to use the . as would be more common in the United States. The formula can be re-written to avoid decimal markers entirely. It does make it a bit longer.

50 * (C - XAVGC3.1) / 2 / (((1 / 2) / (1 - (1 / 2) ^ 14)) * (ABS(C - C1) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C13 - C14)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 10 AND 50 * (C1 - XAVGC3.2) / 2 / (((1 / 2) / (1 - (1 / 2) ^ 14)) * (ABS(C1 - C2) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C13 - C14) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C14 - C15)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 10

Yes you were right, now it works.

I tried to use it with the symbol SDS (using a threashold of 30) and the condition give a result of False. That means that is higher than 30 but if I look at the graph I have created the value is 16.68.

I miss something ... Are the two rsi formula the same?

Thanks

Both formulas as written are checking for the 2 period RSI to be less than 10 for two bars in a row.

Sorry Bruce I was not to explain what I mean.

I have the chart of EROS and on this I created the graph of RSI 2 days. If I look at the RSI graph the value of RSI is 6.43.

Than I have created my condition for scanning using the PCF formula you provided me. In this case the condition is false meaning that using this formula RSI is greater than 10.

I hope I explained better.

PS. how can I upload an image? I have tried but I am not able ...

The best topic of which I'm aware on how to post images in the forums is Inserting A Chart into A Worden post.

What is the exact Condition Formula you are using?

Is your RSI indicator definitely set to use Wilder's smoothing (checked in v7 and the Wilder's RSI and not plain RSI in v12)?

as you can see for ABCD the indicator on the chart is  less than 30 but the screening on the left that use the condition I created with the formula you gave me is not flagged meaning that is more tha 30

Thanks,

Giancarlo

You say you are using the formula I gave you. As stated previously, it checks for the RSI being less than 10 for 2  bars in a row. That definitely is not true on the chart.

A Condition Formula which just checks for the current value of the 2-period Wilder's smoothed RSI being less than 30 would only be about half as long.

50 * (C - XAVGC3.1) / 2 / (((1 / 2) / (1 - (1 / 2) ^ 14)) * (ABS(C - C1) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C1 - C2) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C13 - C14)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 30

In addition, if you are using TC2000 version 12, you are better off just clicking on the indicator on the chart and selecting Create Scan Condition to create this condition than creating a Condition Formula.

Create Conditions from Your Chart (5:25)

Hi Bruce,

could you please create a condition criteria to scan for stocks that have the 200 days linear regression line with a positive slope?

Thanks,

Giancarlo

Please try the following Condition Formula.

Using Linear Regression vs Classical Peaks/Valleys for Divergence Analysis

199 * (C - C199) + 197 * (C1 - C198) + 195 * (C2 - C197) + 193 * (C3 - C196) + 191 * (C4 - C195) + 189 * (C5 - C194) + 187 * (C6 - C193) + 185 * (C7 - C192) + 183 * (C8 - C191) + 181 * (C9 - C190) + 179 * (C10 - C189) + 177 * (C11 - C188) + 175 * (C12 - C187) + 173 * (C13 - C186) + 171 * (C14 - C185) + 169 * (C15 - C184) + 167 * (C16 - C183) + 165 * (C17 - C182) + 163 * (C18 - C181) + 161 * (C19 - C180) + 159 * (C20 - C179) + 157 * (C21 - C178) + 155 * (C22 - C177) + 153 * (C23 - C176) + 151 * (C24 - C175) + 149 * (C25 - C174) + 147 * (C26 - C173) + 145 * (C27 - C172) + 143 * (C28 - C171) + 141 * (C29 - C170) + 139 * (C30 - C169) + 137 * (C31 - C168) + 135 * (C32 - C167) + 133 * (C33 - C166) + 131 * (C34 - C165) + 129 * (C35 - C164) + 127 * (C36 - C163) + 125 * (C37 - C162) + 123 * (C38 - C161) + 121 * (C39 - C160) + 119 * (C40 - C159) + 117 * (C41 - C158) + 115 * (C42 - C157) + 113 * (C43 - C156) + 111 * (C44 - C155) + 109 * (C45 - C154) + 107 * (C46 - C153) + 105 * (C47 - C152) + 103 * (C48 - C151) + 101 * (C49 - C150) + 99 * (C50 - C149) + 97 * (C51 - C148) + 95 * (C52 - C147) + 93 * (C53 - C146) + 91 * (C54 - C145) + 89 * (C55 - C144) + 87 * (C56 - C143) + 85 * (C57 - C142) + 83 * (C58 - C141) + 81 * (C59 - C140) + 79 * (C60 - C139) + 77 * (C61 - C138) + 75 * (C62 - C137) + 73 * (C63 - C136) + 71 * (C64 - C135) + 69 * (C65 - C134) + 67 * (C66 - C133) + 65 * (C67 - C132) + 63 * (C68 - C131) + 61 * (C69 - C130) + 59 * (C70 - C129) + 57 * (C71 - C128) + 55 * (C72 - C127) + 53 * (C73 - C126) + 51 * (C74 - C125) + 49 * (C75 - C124) + 47 * (C76 - C123) + 45 * (C77 - C122) + 43 * (C78 - C121) + 41 * (C79 - C120) + 39 * (C80 - C119) + 37 * (C81 - C118) + 35 * (C82 - C117) + 33 * (C83 - C116) + 31 * (C84 - C115) + 29 * (C85 - C114) + 27 * (C86 - C113) + 25 * (C87 - C112) + 23 * (C88 - C111) + 21 * (C89 - C110) + 19 * (C90 - C109) + 17 * (C91 - C108) + 15 * (C92 - C107) + 13 * (C93 - C106) + 11 * (C94 - C105) + 9 * (C95 - C104) + 7 * (C96 - C103) + 5 * (C97 - C102) + 3 * (C98 - C101) + C99 > C100

Thanks Bruce it works and it's what I am looking for: I can scan for stocks that have a linear regression that have a positive slope.

Now I would like to complicate it. Is that possible to scan for stocks that has a positive linear regression line and are part of of industries that have a positive linear regression too?

Thanks,

Giancarlo

No, there is no way to create an EasyScan which would do what you want.

Hi Bruce,

I would like to create a condition to get stocks that the day before had stochastic 12%K3 < 20.

I know how to get stocks that today have  stochastic 12%K3 < 20 but I would like also the ones that had it yesterday < 20.

If it is possible I would like also the condition to get the ones that had it < 20 two days and three days ago.

Kind regards,

Giancarlo

One method in TC2000 v12 is to add a 1-period moving average to the stochastic. If the offset is set to 0, this will just plot the stochastic. But you can set the offset to 1 to plot the value from the previous bar at the position of the current bar. This allows you to click on the offset moving average and select Create Scan Condition to create the desired condition.

Create Conditions from Your Chart (5:25)

Another method would be to create a Condition Formula. If the stochastic is simple, then the current bar would be the following.

STOC12.3 < 20

With 1 bar ago being the following.

STOC12.3.1 < 20

2 bars ago being the following.

STOC12.3.2 < 20

And 3 bars ago being the following.

STOC12.3.3 < 20

If the stochastic is simple, then the current bar would be the following.

XAVG(STOC12,3) < 20

With 1 bar ago being the following.

XAVG(STOC12.1.1,3) < 20

2 bars ago being the following.

XAVG(STOC12.1.2,3) < 20

And 3 bars ago being the following.

XAVG(STOC12.1.3,3) < 20

Stochastic

Thanks Bruce,

and now the last one.

Could you write me the formula to get stocks that had the wilder rsi of 2 days lower than 20 yesterday? I can do it for the stocks of today but I would like to scan for stocks that had it less than 20 yesterday.

Thanks,

Giancarlo

If I am understanding your question correctly then the best way to do this in TC2000 v12 would be to add a 1 period moving average with an offset of 1 to the Wilder's RSI. You could then click on the offset moving average to create the desired condition.

Create Conditions from Your Chart (5:25)

50 * (C1 - XAVGC3.2) / 2 / (((1 / 2) / (1 - (1 / 2) ^ 14)) * (ABS(C1 - C2) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C2 - C3) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C3 - C4) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C4 - C5) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C5 - C6) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C6 - C7) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C7 - C8) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C8 - C9) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C9 - C10) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C10 - C11) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C11 - C12) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C12 - C13) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C13 - C14) + 1 / 2 * (ABS(C14 - C15)))))))))))))))) + 50 < 20

Thanks Bruce,

probably I did not explain myself correctly.

I woul like to do the same think you did with the stocastich in the posts above. I would like to create a  Condition Formula.

If for the current bar the stocastich would be: STOC12.3 < 20 than for 1 bar ago is: STOC12.3.1 < 20

What would be the equivalent for the WilderRSI?

Regards, Giancarlo

That is what was already provided. Wilder's RSI 2 from 1 bar ago is less than 20. Why do you think it is something else? Does it not match your chart?

sorry to go back to this topic. I realised you already answered me ... but it doesn't work.

For AAP the flag on the top left says that yesterday RSI(2) was less than 30 but if you look at the picture it was more than 30
