Suggestion
Provide a "sector checkbox" on a chart which, when checked, would cause the chart to automatically display the subindustry or industry chart for the selected stock, i.e. not the stock itself.
Simple example of use:
A watchlist with 2 charts, one checked as in the above, with all 3 items sharing the same link color. As each stock is selected in the watchlist, the stock would appear in one chart window (i.e. as usual) AND its subindustry or industry chart (along with any chosen indicators) would automatically be shown in the other.
I'd find such a linkage really useful. Anyway, hope this is of interest.
Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion. It has been assigned case number 7478.

Hi Bruce,
Following up on this case number and the similar case number 6891, I'm busy harrassing your developers about the link... you're so close to offering elegant bottom-up analysis. All the components are there except that precious link to create Industry and Sub-Industry charts from the chart of the individual stock.
In the meantime, I've managed a workaround and am asking your advice as to whether in can be improved.
In a single Workspace, I have the following Watchlists:
1. Scan (several actually, all tabbed in the upper left) producing a list of likely individual stocks
2. Symbol-linked Industry list
3. Symbol-linked Sub-Industry list (tabbed with Industry in the lower left)
The charts are:
1. Symbol-linked custom chart for the individual stock, with time frame link (center of the Workspace)
2. Custom chart for Sub-Industry, un-linked for symbol, but with time frame link (upper right)
3. Custom chart for Industry, un-linked for symbol, but with time frame link (lower right)
The process:
1. Run the scan and select a stock from the result. Its Industry Watchlist pops-up, as does the symbol-linked chart
2. View the Industry number from the Watchlist and plug it into the Industry chart
3. Switch to the Sub-Industry Watchlist... it seems to require that I re-select the stock to get the linked list to display
4. View the Sub-Industry number and plug it into the Sub-Industry chart
5. In the tool bar of a chart, toggle time frames between three different times to compare the stock, the Industry and the Sub-Industry in the same time frame.
Are there ways to improve this, notably by reducing the number of steps?
Since a lot of us do bottom-up analysis, Worden developers could do us a HUGE favor by creating the link between stock, Industry and Sub-Industry on those charts. It looks to me as if your team has done all the heavy lifting already.
Thanks very much.

The only thing I can think of to streamline your process would be to add the Industry and Sub-Industry to the chart as Comparison Symbols by right-clicking on Price History, choosing Comparisons and checking Main Industry and Sub-Industry (you may have done this already).
The Comparison charts are not going to give you the same full picture that you will get by having the Price History plotted in additional panes as you have done, but you might be able to get a good enough view that in some instances you will know it is not worth the extra work to change the symbols of the Price History panes containing your Industry and Sub-Industry.

Yeah, I did use the comparison overlay in the price history, but -- you're right -- I wanted more info that I could only get with a separate chart.
It's a good point though, that a quick glance at those comparison overlays may tell me immediately that there's no point going any further.
For the meantime, II will wait and hope that the chart link will win the TC2000 New Features Lotto. I used to run a small software outfit and know that the demand for new features never ends.
Thanks for the feedback.

Great ideas presented here. I like the idea of being able to view the stock, sub-industry and sub-industry simultaneously in separate charts.
I also wanted to mention that this plays into my request to fix the implementation of the Ctrl-F Switch to Comparison Symbol feature that was partially implemented in v12.2. Currently you can use Ctrl-F to switch to a checked comparison symbol. But unfortunately you cannot press Ctrl-F a second time to switch back to the selected stock.
