Mr. Holden,
I think I have deleted the gap up and gap down canned pcfs. I have tried restoring off of my original software disk and all I get is the gappers-h. If you could point me in the right direction. I could test drive the above scans.
Thank You LNO7

I actually think Gappers-H is the only canned gap criterion. Try these:

Gap Up
L > H1

Gap Down
H < L1

dbt55:

Sounds like your PCF's may not be updated. Make sure you update them, try the scan again, and see what happens.

The condition has changed to GAPPERS

Once you select it in EasyScan you can choose up, down or both. You can also sort by the condition in descending order.

You must create them as PCF's in your TeleChart:

High vs. Low Yesterday
H1/L1

Open vs. Close Yesterday
O1/C1

If you're not familiar with how to create a PCF, here is a video that will help:

Not sure I understand. A doji typically has very little body...the open and close are very close to (or exactly) the same value. Are you looking for the Open and Close to be in the upper portion of the trading range for the day? Can you clarify?

I am trying to create a dragon specially after a short term correction. The tail or low of the day is three times the length of the body, where it looks like a doji. Tks for your patience, TM

Here is a PCF to try:

Body as % of Wick
ABS(C-O)/(H-L)*100

This will return the body as a percent of the wick. A value of 33 means the body is 1/3rd the size of the wick (or, the wick is 3x the length of the body).

Make sense?

I am not able to find value? I follow the video exactly, but do not have the condition of Open vs Close yesterday nor High vs low yesterday. Do I have the right membership (Gold)or the right version 6.00042. I did try this formula but get all 6800 stocks?
Tks a mil, TM

The PCF's you're looking for are the ones I posted for you yesterday, just a few posts up from this one. You must create them in your TeleChart.

Hi Doug,

Thanks much for the Candle Stick lesson!

Is it possible to write a PCF to find a Doji on a weekly basis with an exhaustion run up, after the issue has an extended price rise, say 13 to 26 weeks out?

Thanks, 2000trader

These are all for weekly charts:

This PCF will compare the close to the open 4 days ago:

C/O*100

(Limit to VALUES 99 to 101)

This PCF will compare the high and low of the candle

MAXH5/MINL5*100

(Limit to VALUES greater than 100

These two PCFs, limited correctly, will find Dojis on a weekly chart. Add any price or volume requirements to the EasyScan.

The final step will be to sort the resulting WatchList by Price Percent Change 26-weeks in DESCENDING order.

Hello,

I have used the C1 / O1=1 in order to find dojis that occured yesterday. Today is saterday so it should find them from yesterday.
PCF and Telechart are fully updated. when I get X value I still notice there the value are randon, with other words, it did not work out.
I have the samme problem with Bullish Engulfing, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not, even though I use the same easyscan and PCF's.
How can I solve this.

Even though today is Saturday, the latest open, high, low, and close data you have is dated Friday October 28. "Yesterday" is still going to be Thursday, until the market opens on Monday and you download some new data.

Hi: When following you8r presentation, I wnet to my conditions and tried to find "open vs High yesterday," high vs low yesterday," and "gap up." They don't exist in my list of options. Is there a newer version I need or what is the work around?

Thanks

You have to create these PCF's and then update them. They do not come as part of your Telechart installation. As given in the video, here they are:

Open vs. Close Yesterday
O1/C1

High vs. Low Yesterday
H1/L1

Gap Up
L>H1

Gap Down
H<L1

Hi Doug

I'm new to Telecharts and the stock market on the whole.

I just viewed your video clip "for Scanning for Dojis followed by gaps with Candlestick PCFs" is this a stonger set up than with a Doji before a gap.

Thanks

Dave

emmadaniel1,
The trainers cannot give settings, interpretation or investment advice. You may wish to ask a similar question in the Stock and Market Talk forum where other traders are more likely to see it and comment.

Hello there,

I'm new to telechart2000.

I watched your video on creating a scan for gap up after doji.  When I clicked on new Easyscan , then changed to all stocks,  I could not find "open vs close" in my pfc library.  All I could find is "gappers".  Where could I get  info on how to create an "open vs close" pfc?

Thanks

Rus

tdbroker,
You will probably be better off using the technique described in Boolean PCFs for Candlestick Patterns when attempting to find such a broad range of candlestick patterns (I prefer it anyway). If you need help converting this Daily formulas into Weekly formulas please ask the question in a new topic in the Ask a Trainer forum.

ruso1o,
Welcome to the forums. A very good foundation for learning how to use TeleChart can be gained by reviewing the following:

If you are new to TeleChart READ THIS FIRST!

The video explains making the Open vs Close Personal Criteria Formula. It is not one of the example PCFs that ships with TeleChart. The Sunday, January 09, 2005 5:57:22 PM ET, Tuesday, May 24, 2005 5:14:21 PM ET, Wednesday, May 25, 2005 9:45:43 AM ET, Saturday, August 20, 2005 8:40:10 AM ET and Friday, March 31, 2006 3:35:09 PM ET posts in this very topic have some of the formulas you might wish to use with the technique presented here. You may also wish to review the following topic for information on creating PCFs:

Hello,

I am not getting the value slider that is showing on the video...

I set the combo box to value  the options I have are:

92.02[ blue bar] 90 Max
64.99[ blue bar] 75
45.85[ blue bar] 50
24.44 [ blue bar] 25
19.62 [ blue bar] 10 Min

What am I doing wrong?

Also, when I click watchlist All Items in System, the count is only 7651... is it my software?
